Hi all! Sorry for the delay...wanted to get some of our professional pics on here!!
Still on a high from the wedding - was truly THE most amazing day ever, we wouldn't have changed a thing for the world, and loved every moment, so thought I'd share some of the day with you lovely people who helped me bring it all together!
We had a crazy busy day Friday taking everything to the venue and getting bits set up (we did a lot of it ourselves). The Friday night we had a meal with wedding party so my parents could meet bridesmaids and best man (living abroad, and with me having been at boarding school most of my growing up life, they were a little worried about not knowing anyone there) - this was such a good idea, as I wasn't wanting to say goodbye to OH too early on in the evening (!).
After everyone had gone, I ended up in my hotel room on my own, just feeling very odd....excited but so odd!!
Saturday morning, we managed to sneak in breakfast with one of my bridesmaids and my Mum and Dad, before the other bridesmaids and hair stylist/MUA arrived. We had such a relaxed morning getting ready, photographer arrived and took lots of photos, flowers arrived and then the time came to get me in my dress!
After some photos at the hotel, and a last minute pee (and the revelation that my dress would go over my hips !!!), we headed off to the venue - @Miss_Conduct kindly drove my mum and bridesmaids, and her hubby to be drove Dad and I…. I felt SO excited, nervous but so excited!
Our best man’s Mum was our celebrant, so lots of tears and going through the formalities, then came the climb up the stairs. Our song came on (Somewhere over the rainbow - the ukulele version) and that’s when I had my first proper wobble with tears...pretty sure I did lots of ugly faces trying hard not to sob!!
Ceremony was a bit of a blur...I think I managed to hold myself together, we had 2 beautiful readings (Invisible Kisses by Lemn Sissay, and the Apache wedding blessing), and each did personalised vows - something we debated for a long while, but I’m so glad we did.
After drinks reception, THE most amazing canapes I’ve ever tasted, lots of photos, confetti throwing, came the meal. We had a sweetheart table, which didn’t initially go down too well with my Dad, but it worked for our odd family set up, and I am SO glad we did - we were slightly elevated, and could actually spend time together just watching everyone enjoying themselves.
The meal went on longer than I’d expected, so we didn’t really have too much of a gap to squeeze in another quick shoot with our photographer, before evening guests starting turning up! We cut our cake (artfully made by hubby the week before the wedding….), which was possibly THE most bizarre experience of the day - utter silence with 80 pairs of eyes staring at us...haha!
Only hiccup of the day came when it came to attempting to bustle my dress for our first dance - 3 slightly tipsy bridesmaids and me in the loo, until I despaired “just go get my mum”...who couldn’t figure it out either. Thankfully one of our already married friends managed to sort it just before our very delayed first dance.
Lots of boogying, and lots and lots of smiling, we literally had the best day. My parents managed to stick it out until gone 11 (so proud of my Dad for doing so well on the day - and it was actually my Mum that was desperate for her bed!), and we’ve made some very very special memories!
Had the Sunday to go pick up everything from the venue, then come home and chill with Mum and Dad before they headed home early hours of Monday morning. Spent the evening opening all our cards and presents, which was just SO overwhelming.
Monday we rushed around trying to pack (possibly should have sorted that BEFORE the wedding….!!), and got to the airport to jet off for our mini-moon in Porto Santo...which was AMAZING!!!!!
Got our professional photos back now,and just keep reliving the day over and over!
BEST DAY EVER!!!!
