Possible TMI - Periods (Funky, stay out unless you want to be traumatised)

Pompey, 17 December, 2013 at 10:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 27

MF just freaks out when I mention this so who better to ask than a load of women.

I am on cilest pill and have been for a long time. I go for my check ups and the nurse is happy for me to stay on it. Anyway, I have my break week at the moment so am having a 'period' but I have noticed that every month seems to be more painful and heavier. I barely slept last night because of the pain. I rarely take the pill over to skip the week off so it cant be this.

I don't really know what I'm asking. WWYD I guess? Or have you had similar?

I'm on Cilest and have been for about 4-5 years now. I was on microgynon before that and my "periods" now are much lighter than they were before I changed pill.

Maybe talk to your nurse and see if it just maybe isn't agreeing with you anymore and change to another pill?

Cilest made me fat. It was horrid. Go back to the gp as I think that's quite an old pill and hormones may be more crude than in newer ones.

i came on today. I think we are syncing.

Maybe I'm not actually real and Mini has two profiles... ?

I've got two months left so when I go for my check up in the new year I will talk to the nurse.

I'd maybe try the mini pill (progesterone only such as Cerazette), that you take all the time without a break. Consistently being exposed to progesterone thins your womb lining and most ladies stop having periods all together as there is nothing to shed. Others have much lighter periods. A few have unpredictable bleeding and understandably get fed up and switch pills. However for about 90% of women it works well to stop or lighten periods.

I haven't had this problem with the pill but I did start to get awful heavy periods and pains after about 2 years of using the implant. I had it taken out and everything returned to normal after a month or so. Perhaps it is best to speak to the nurse and see if they can suggest something else?

I love Dianette but they made me come off it. My current one made me really depressed so not on it at the moment. There are so many options out there these days that I am sure you will find one that suits.

I cant say I feel tiptop on it. I came off Ovranette back in the day as it gave me huge mood swings. Cilest made me fat, Femodene made me bleed all the time and so I have ended up on Dianete due to my spotty skin. I remember the GP saying I couldn't be on it for too long though but no one has mentioned it since and that was 2 years ago now. Any idea why?

Mini (I still haven't managed to quote sorry), it's due to the increased risk of DVT, I was on it about 12 years with no problem though. I am going to have a whine next time I go and try and get back on it.

Microgynon made me a crazy suicidal psycho. Cerazette made me spotty, fat and have god awful periods every 2 weeks. I've decided I don't need any more hormones in my life.

I was on cilest and it completely killed my libido. I mean completely!

My gp was fab and put me onto Yasmin. She said that they don't usually prescribe it because it's one of the more expensive pills on the market. Once I was on it, I found it agreed with me much more. Could be an idea to speak to your gp and see what they suggest?

I only really liked femodene. It made me lose weight and it balanced out my crazy hormones and even crazier period pains. Microgynon made me pregnant - 3 times! well, actually, I think something or someone else actually made me pregnant but the microgynon didn't stop it! I tried the cerazette mini pill but if I was more than an hour late taking it I bled.

Maybe that's why I never wanted to fvck the ex? ?

On a more serious note, it seems Yasmine is the way to go.

I know this is an slightly older post but it sounded like something i could get some advice on! I used to be on Microgynon, its now called Rigevidon apparently. It's killed my libido too. I've been on cerazette too and that was HORRIBLE! I've had cilests too and that was rubbish. I find this rigevidon is making me put weight on (might be why Im struggling to diet!!) I want to go on something else but get a little uncomfortable talking to GP about it!! Whats the point on being on the pill if you've got no drive anyway!!

I cant remember who said about getting pregnant on Cileste, that happened to my sister, twice!

I was on Microgynon, and when it changed even though apparently it's all the same, I just didn't get on with it.

I got the implant last April and it's been a DREAM. Not crazy hormones, and 1 (really light) period since then!! And it lasts 3 years! I can't recommend it enough.

I have thought about the implant but I'm very VERY squeamish (I had to have my ears pierced at the same time so that I wouldnt back out after the shock of the first one!) and the thought of having my arm cut and something thats got muscle grown over it cut out makes me want vom!! I'd do the injection but I'm really needle phobic! Basically I'm a wuss but having no libido is really putting a strain on things because its bothering me and OH. I've thought of trying that Horny Goats Weed but not sure if it'll work!!

I just has the implant out, it was so easy to put in and take out, didn't hurt and hardly left a mark. It did make me really depressed though, i didn't realise until I'd had it taken out. Now I don't no what to take because I've heard bad things about every contraceptive and I'm scared they'll make me depressed again.

I don't like needles and was terrified when I was getting it put in, but it really didn't hurt, and I don't even notice it now. Gave me one helluva bruise though! (can show you a pic if you like!)

I am another vote for Yasmin - i've been on it for a few years and never had any issues, i changed doctors about 2 years ago and they switched my pill to another 'cheaper' one ( i didn't know this at the time), i ended up gaining weight and a lot of acne. I went back to the doctors, saw a different GP and they switched me back to Yasmin, they said the other doctor would have just changed it becuase Yasmin is so expensive!

I was on Mycrogynon (from 16 till early 20's) then I switched to Yasmin which was good but I was sick of having to take a pill each day so I had the Mirena coil. I love it. When they put it in I had really bad period pains for a day but since then nothing. No pain no periods nothing. I love it. It lasts 5 years too so I don't have to worry for ages. Apparently having it out is less painful than putting it in but to be honest although for 1 day it hurt for 5 years pain free I am willing to do it.
