Post box for cards?

the future mrs h, 27 February, 2009 at 15:11 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi!

I was chatting to a friend last night and she mentioned having a post box for any wedding cards. I'm in two minds about this as part of me thinks it's very sensible, so if anyone's bought us cards there's somewhere safe for them to put them. Also, we had a gift list but did have vouchers on it, so a few people may have bought us vouchers, so it does make sense. But the other part of me wonders if it's a bit presumptuous - like we're expecting to get cards (and possibly vouchers and money).

What are your views on this?

Thanks!

Our wedding planner (DebbieD) provided us with one, but it was just a locked wooden box, nothing too personalised and specific. But, having said that some of them are very pretty and if you're going to have one anyway...

    Thanks hay.

By the way, I didn't want to offend anyone who did have a post box at their wedding !! I personally wouldn't think there was anything wrong with someone having one (although if I hadn't bought them a card, I might feel a bit bad when I saw the post box!)

Don't be silly, people should have more important things to worry about than whether or not you like that they've got a bloody postbox! lol

I had one and everyone commented on what a good idea it was. I use it now to store my cards and guest book and general wedding keepsakes.

I got the box from someone on here i think it was Zoe and then i decorated it myself as it was completely plain. Here's a picture of mine:

Lisaloulou had one from John Lewis which had a swirally design on it and I just recently bought the same box for £4 (was £8). It comes flat packed and with a pre cut hole so you don't need to do anything to it if you don't want.

Lisa will be able to show you a picture of hers which she decorated slightly.
