Post Boxes

cassmk2, 1 August, 2010 at 17:16 Posted on Planning 0 14

Who's having one and who's not? Cannot make up my mind whether to have one or not and whether it is a bit preumptuous? Although i guess people will buy you a card won't they? And you aren't just assuming they will give you lots of cash ha ha

A flash from anyone who has one would also be appreciated. Thank you

I wasn't going to have one, but I went to a wedding at the weekend and they had one and I could see why. We're not going to have a very big present table so I can see cards falling off it and maybe getting lost. A post box should keep things nice and tidy!

Ordered mine from E Bay and it looks lovely!!

    xx

I was lucky and won one in the Hitched raffle! But I would have got one anyway - When Im a guest at weddings I hate having to walk around for ages with a card/present!

That is lovely Zippy. But is it very tall? I was just worried it may not get noticed.

I'll be having one. I like the idea of the guests having somewhere to put their cards and if it were me and I were giving cash or vouchers i would feel more comfortable putting it into a sealed box rather than just leaving it lying on a table. I'll just be having a small table for the box and the guest book to go on.

We had one and I'm really glad that we did. I wanted a small square one that I could sit on top of a table so it was set up with our guest book and a picture from our pre-wedding photo shoot.

The guests loved it and for us, it was good to know all the cards were in one place. As the evening guests arrived most handed us an envelop with a card and sometimes vouchers so it was so handy just to stick them all in there and know they were all together.

The only thing I'd say is that if there is going to be money and/or vouchers in them just be careful to maybe empty it every so often. Get a BM or someone to do this. We gave the stuff to the hotel staff who put it into their safe and we collected it all in the morning as we had £100s of vouchers at the end up.

Heres a pic of ours that I made, its just simple but did the job nicely:

Also, I've used mine after the day to keep all our cards in plus my memories box and another few things from the day so its been handy even just for that!!!!

Not very tall, I have't got a ruler to hand, but I would guess about the height of a barbie doll!!

Compact but beautiful! I have had a look at Prettywilds site and love her designs. This may be the route i'll be taking.

Hi, we have many types of post boxes (see below) feel free to have a look at www.lilypondweddings.com

The second style is the most popular by far with us.

I actually don't like 'Post boxes' as you see them at most peoples weddings. They never look that nice, and I wasn't planning to have one at mine.

But I soon understood the practical reasons for having one.

So I compromised and had a card basket! I actually got an old woven basket that belonged to my gran from out the back of my barn, and then decorated it to theme my wedding.

I thought it looked my nicer, classier, and gave me satisfaction in reusing something that once belonged to my gran, and was otherwise sitting unused.
