Post Ofiice Disaster and Bridal Store Hell

Kym134, 29 November, 2011 at 12:23 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hey,

Everything is getting closer and my planning is getting a bit stressful but I have finally managed to recieve my wedding invites and to post them. As suggested by my family I personally went to the post office and got them weighed, measured and scrutinised. They then sold me normal 1st class stamps as they said they will be fine. This last week has been filled with family and friends calling me to say they have got a note through their door to come a pay £1.12 at the post offfice to recieve their invite. ?

I am quite angry! My MIL also decided to mention 5 cousins that we havn't invited as my OH or I have never met them (or heard of them)

I have also recieved a letter from a lawyer saying my bridal store has gone into liquidation. Although I have my dress, I was waiting for the bridesmaids dresses so I am frantically calling and e-mailing the designer trying to work out what to do but I have no idea if we are going to lose our 60% deposit of over £300 for the 5 dresses.

Sorry rant over.

Royal Mail are stupidly hit or miss with their postage costs - I received two IDENTICAL letters a couple of months ago with normal stamps on, one letter was delivered no problem the 2nd letter had a sticker on it saying I owed postage!

Took it to my sorting office to point out the idiocy of it but they seemed pretty clueless as to how it'd happened, so that was a lost cause!

What an absolute arse that Post Office *** up is! I did the same as you - went to the post office, had it weighed and measured and they said it would be fine with a first class stamp - I still worry that some people had to pay to pick them up and just haven't told me though!

It may not be every invite though - the sorting is done locally rather than where you post them - it just depends who you've got at the receiving office. I would go back to the Post Office and complain.

As for the dresses - good point by Annipie. Are you insured?

    Oh no!

Stay calm - I'm sure things will work out.

As for the postoffice - get their head office number online and make a formal complaint.

And the dress shop - do you have wedding insurence? Or insurence through the card you purchased it on?

Good luck and keep us posted!
