Post wedding blues?!

Wifeytobe88, 2 October, 2013 at 13:39 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi all

So being the anxious and fretful person that I am I've already thought about the post-wedding blues I'll no doubt get after I get married in February next year! We're going on a lovely mini-moon two days after the wedding, for four nights, and I won't be back in work until a week and a half after the wedding. BUT I imagine then I'll have the blues big-time! I'm the type of person who always needs to be 'busy' and needs stuff on, I go to the gym several times a week just to have something to do after work as I hate just going home and sitting in front of the telly til bed-time!

We're going on our maxi-moon in August, but it will be 5.5 months after the wedding. We're not looking to try for a baby straight after either, as we're waiting until we get a house (which won't be until next December) or maybe until a year after the wedding.

OM's - did you get this? Am I worrying for nothing? Anyone else think they'll feel the same?

I got major post wedding blues, but looking through lots of photos and making a scrapbook has cheered me up no end. If you're prepared for it I think you'll be ok, jut schedule lots of things to keep yourself busy! Get OH involved too - take up a newlyweds hobby together Smiley smile

I didn't get them at all. In fact I found I was glad to be married and that it was all over!

I'm not really that sort of person though who would get 'the blues'

I agree with all of this, but also look further into the future. Throw yourself into hunting for a house, and when the time comes throw yourself into making the baby Smiley smile. A good friend of mine told me to think of my life as chapters, once one is over focus on the next one... You will always have enough in life to look forwards to.

I got married on the Friday (my 40th birthday), spent all day Saturday reliving it with the guests who had stayed at the hotel and then later, with my parents and sister at my mum's house. Then Sunday we went back home (I got married in my home town, where I don't live anymore), unpacked, ripped off my eyelashes / scrubbed off my tan, clipped my new gel nails and threw myself back into work on Monday.

It was the best thing I could have done.

OH on the other hand wanted one extra day off, and it was the worst thing he could have done. He suffered post wedding blues enormously and spent all of Monday wallowing in it.

Still on a high! We got married August Bank Holiday. We have hundreds of photos to organise but I recommend throwing yourself into your wedding report. Having people say lovely things about your day afterwards is great but when people who weren't actually there join in, it's a hoot!

The sure way to beat those blues and actually look forward to coming home from your honeymoon is to know that you've had your wedding professionally filmed. You can then cheer yourself up whenever you want by reliving all the fun, atmosphere and emotion of the day. It will be the best money spent on your wedding!
