Postbox and centrepieces - Opinions please xx

clarem1986, 28 July, 2010 at 13:21 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi ladies, hope you are all well. I'm having some wobbles on some of my stuff (again)!

Firstly, this is my postbox, I do like it but wondered if you thought I should attach a tag saying 'post' or something, or a note to say 'Thanks for your cards etc' or just leave as it is?

Then these are my centrepieces, I think they are nice but i'm worried that they are not that tall and might not have much of a 'wow' factor, do you think with mirrored plates, scatter crystals and maybe ivory rose petals, the tables will look ok? Do I need some tealight candles too?

And lastly!! My bridesmaid dresses are mink, would mink chair bows go with these centrepieces or should I stay neautral with whites and ivory? I'm feeling a bit unsure about everything and what to do for the best! Thanks ladies xx

I think the centrepieces are lovely and once everything else is laid out on the table it will look lovely.

I would ask a bridesmaid/usher/family member etc, to post a card in the box so that people can see thats what its there for.

Also, I think mink chair covers would look nice

I would give some indication it was a post box - if it wasn't for sites like this I wouldn't have a clue what it could be used for and I think a lot of non-hitched-addicted* guests would have the same problem.

I really like the candelabra. I wouldn't add too much - less is more, daaaahling, less is more. Perhaps a few tea lights to make the dangling bits shine and sparkle more?

I like the idea of the mink. I think neutral tones work really together.

    All very classy, me likey.

*Yep, there must be people out there!

I've got the same centrepieces as you but the taller ones! I have been thinking the same thing that they need something more, I'm going to put them on mirror places and then possibly talk to the florist see if there is something simple they can suggest, or maybe just go with some petals! I don't know if I'm over thinking it all though!

I love your centre pieces! Very classy, with all the other bits - rose petals etc your tables will look beautiful.

I agree people probably won't know it's a postbox, but then you don't want to spoil the lovely look of it by sticking something on it - what about a framed sign next to it saying Post or Thank you from Mr and Mrs ____ -

Like Belinda's idea as well of getting it kicked off too by getting a family member to put a card in first!

I think they are lovely...What a good idea to have a birdcage as a postbox (may have to steal that idea!)

What about some sort of mirrored block, or something that along those lines that will make the candleabras taller - if you are worried about the height? Take one with you next time you go to your venue - they may be fine as they are. Are you having a marquee? I think its nice to have height in a marquee, but not a necessity otherwise.. x

Thank you all so much for replying.

I'm not having a marquee so I guess the height doesn't matter too much...although my venue does have a domed ceiling so it's quite high. I like the idea of the raised stands but not sure where I'd get them and whether I'm just adding additional costs for no reason!! I guess when all the candles are lit it will look pretty. All your comments and suggestions have been really useful, thanks :-)

I feel much happier now, I want things simple and elegant but dont know if I was edging on boring and ordinary!

Claireyfairey2 - Us over thinking things?! Surely not!! Haha I think I'm guilty of this big time! xx
