Post-Christmas back-to-work blues anyone?

Clairebecky, 4 January, 2009 at 20:05 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 27

I'm back at Uni in the morning, so very early start (have to catch train at 7:45am), H is back at work & son is back at school. We dropped my daughter off at her Grandma's this afternoon so I won't see her till Thursday night and will miss her like mad.

We're just taking the decorations down and it only seems like 5 mins ago I put them up! Can't believe the Christmas break is over already, it's gone by in a flash!

Anuyone else not looking forward to getting back into the usual routine tomorrow?☹️

Definitely not looking forward to getting back into the usual routine tomorrow. The house is a mess and needs a good clean, I'll be back to walking the dog every day rather than kicking H out of the door to do it, I've got an hour's class at the gym, there's no food in so I need to go shopping AND I said I'd cook tomorrow night so I'll have to get up and get on and not lounge around in bed for hours or watch TV like I have for the past two weeks.

I know it's not "work" as such but I'm definitely going to have to get off my backside!

Me, I am dreading it! Although have just arranged to go out with my colleagues for lunch which will make it a bit more bearable!

I'm dreading it - not the actually being at work bit, I'm hoping clients will be quiet for the first few days so I can catch up on some paperwork but it's the getting up etc.

H and I have become nocturnal creatures - we've spent the last week going to bed around 5am and then getting up around 3pm so getting up at 6 in the morning will be interesting ?

I've loved being at home - I only had 10 days off but that's been my longest break since we went on honeymoon in 2006, although we haven't really been anywhere or done anything - the decorating of the bedroom has only got so far as us taking the bed apart, we've just kind of sat here and watched 3 series of Friends ?

I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom at 3am this morning so they are all nice and clean for the return to normality but I still have 3 weeks worth of ironing to do and H currently doesn't have a clean shirt for tomorrow. The idea was we would empty the wardrobes, add some extra drawers and bits and then I'd iron everything but we discovered a few days ago there is all wet inside the wardrobes and we haven't got around to doing anything about it!

Actually, maybe it's not a bad thing I'm going back to work tomorrow!

Oh God yes. I don't actually mind the work part of it as I enjoy my job and am looking forward to seeing everyone but I have crazily agreed to work 2 evenings a week for the next 10 weeks which will mean I'm out of the house until 9pm 3 nights a week. On top of everything else I have to do i have no idea when i am going to sleep.

H is a nightmare, he really doesn't want to go back to work and is in a terrible mood.

    Me..

My back to normal routine started earlier when I had to leave H and drive back up to my during the week lodgings, which sucked - have just spent the longest time with him since august and it was gut wrenching to leave him..

I got back here, unpacked, made my bed and am now sat here lonely, updating myself on flickr and trying not to miss him like crazy but its back to work tomorrow so am hoping I keep busy this week

Mr P is on the phone to his youngest (25) and she isn't looking forward to going back to work tomorrow at all. It's not the work, it's the getting up 6 am after being used to 11 am!

Still, it's only 48 weeks until the hype starts again ?

I had a brilliant Christmas and a great new year and feel so chilled out and am dreading going back to work tomorrow. I am trying to make an effort tonight though and have ironed this weeks outfits. I have lovely bath smellies from Christmas so am going to have a relaxing soak in the bath. the trouble is i have been going to bed at crazyo'clock every night so tomorrow morning at 5:40 will be interesting ?

The up side is that I do have a brilliant caribbean cruise to look forward to in 17 days though!

I don't actually mind the work too much. Uni should actually be ok tomorrow and we're going out for a Thai lunch with the staff which should be nice. I'm on placement Tues-Thu and then Friday is my study day and I'm taking my daughter for her 1st day at school!

It's mainly the getting up early. We've also been going to bed v late - any time from 2-4am - and getting up between 9am and noon sometime! Getting up at 6:30am will not be fun.

I'm also missing my family who were here over Christmas. Not sure when I'll see my brother & SIL again, and probably won't see my parents until half-term in February!☹️

I didn't have the last 2 weeks off unfortunately but I did very relaxed hours so it's still going to be an effort to drag myself out of bed and get organised. My toddler has been coming into work with me over Christmas but I'm going to have to pack a bag for the childminder tomorrow which means being organised. It's going to be freezing in the morning as well.

I'm not looking forward to returning either. MrB has no work at the moment so he will be at home when I go to work tomorrow. One benefit is that I haven't had to worry about taking down the christmas decs, catching up on washing or cleaning as MrB will do this over the next few days. We have been sleeping till about 9.30 so it will kill me getting up at 6.30, although I am determined to stick to my new years resolution which is to go to bed earlier during the week - starting tonight.

It isn't the work as such, more the 5am wake up call, 3 hours in the car ever day and then not getting in the house until gone 8.30 pm again. It is a long day with 2 young children in tow.

Oh I have the most terrible January blues. ☹️ Mr Foo is back to work tomorrow so I'm home alone with the baby again, I can barely remember what to do with him all day. This week is going to be hard work I think.

I HATE January so much. Nothing to look forward to until Spring. ?

No more work until 2010 for me ? (unless you count the 24/7 responsibility of childcare!)

Hey Keef, let's do lunch and really piss everyone off on this thread ?

? me! I've been off for 2.5 weeks (the joy of being part time). Although Simon has worked a few days we've had two lots of 5 days together which has been lovely. Amelia has been a darling too and we've managed to not get up properly most days until after 8am. She's in for a bit of a shock too!

Well I'm out of work at the moment, so you'd think not. But H is back at work tomorrow so, really, its back to normal for me too. Up early and to the gym first thing, the house needs a good clean (and the decorations are still up!) and I'm back to being on my own all day. So, not looking forward to it at all.

Got a week of merry chaos coming up. Partly looking forward to it, as it will be completely full on and potentially really interesting. Partly dreading it as I know damn fine that some of the people involved haven't done what they are supposed to have done, so it could get messy. Not so much blues as fear of reds and blacks!

I've been off for 13 months on maternty leave so tomorrow is going to be one hell of a shock, especially since MrH is away on business for 10 days. Am currently just not thinking about it.

Well, have managed the getting up early thing. I now have to get through the first day, after a bout of insomnia last night & being the only admin person in today. Oh, and I'm cycling for the first time in ten years. No idea of which route I'm taking, and it was snowing last night ! And I'm off on a fast-track excercise thing this evening. If I can manage today, the rest of the week should be a breeze. ?

ETA: It's just started snowing, and I've got a dry throat, which I think is going to develop into a cough.

Me too. Couldn't get to sleep and was just about dozing off when my alarm went off. I'm knackered and have huge bags under my eyes Smiley sad Was going to cycle this morning but the snow has stopped that. Still have a 2.5 mile walk though.

Well my 1st day back wasn't so bad after all. Went to bed about 12:30am, woke up about 3am (think the cat woke me) then managed to get up at 6:45am and caught the train ok.

I did some reading on my laptop on the train then got to Uni to find it was freezing as the heating was broken. We had our seminar this morning in a room with an electric heater, then were informed that afternoon lectures were cancelled as it was too cold, so we went for out Thai lunch with our tutors then I came home! I had been expecting not to get home till 6:30pm or later, so getting back at 3:30pm was lovely! It meant I could let the kitten out for a play too as he'd been cooped up in the dining room (for his own safety), so he is now merrily bounding around and wrestling with H's trainer!?
