I'm not Catholic, so can't swear to this, but a friend who is and was married a few years ago said that although it's "usual" for Catholic priests to arrange marriage prep classes or courses, it isn't compulsory (although there is a groundswell of opinion among many Catholics that it ought to be). If your priest is happy for you not to do it, then I would have that's that sorted!

    Hi there,

We are getting married in our local C of E church and we attended a marriage prep day. I didn't find the relationship advise essential although definitely some things to think about. I really enjoyed meeting the reverend again though and it has settled some nerves about the day itself.

Maybe you could go to 1 or 2 of the sessions? Maybe clarify with the priest again? I'm sure if he said you don't need to then that's fine.

It's up to each individual Priest, so what he has said to you, will be right.

I'm really sorry but this really made me laugh - you mean premarital classes. It's the kind of typo I'm good at ?. I was thinking was this about martial arts lol ?

Hi, we're having a catholic wedding, the course we were on had couples who already had children, not sure if that helps you or not.
