We had one, wore something comfortable and "us"... not too many patterns, colours that complement each other.

    You will be fine...

What Mrs C said, we just wore our favourite casual clothes. I was so nervous beforehand but your tog will put you at ease and you get lots of lovely photos before the big day! Good luck Smiley smile

The idea is that you get comfortable with the idea of being photographed, and get to know your photographer.

Think of it, what's the worst thing that can happen? If you end up with awful photos or hate the way you look in them or whatever, you've just lost some money. You don't have to share the photos or anything.

My guess, going by similar posts over the time I've been here is that you'll be here on Monday posting what a great time you had, and in a week or two posting the pictures and saying how fantastic they are.

I'm fine with cameras, but my b2b is just like you - hates it. We didn't have an official 'pre shoot' with our photographer but we met him at our venue about 6 weeks back and did some 'sample shots' in some of the places we wanted particular shots done (rather than the big groups etc which we obviously couldn't) and some practise for a couple of fancy/complex shots we thought up that the photographer had never been asked about before, so it was a learning curve for him as well and we all had a great time. Our venue has a small unmanned railway station adjacent to it, and as I'm a bit of an anorak we thought it might be nice to have a shot on the station (I like 'out of place' photos of things and it seemed a great idea) so he took some different shots as we stood on the station, with and without trains passing through. Apparently on certain trains that have a darker window tint there was a great 'passing train blur' on a slow shutter, but a perfect reflection of us in the train window so we're going to try for that on the day. We saw what he'd done whilst huddled in a hailstorm in the little shelter on the platform.

    Hiya

Am sure you'll really enjoy it, and it's good to get the nerves about having your photo taken out of the way before your big day. Your photographer will know how to put you at ease, so try not to worry.

The best thing to wear is something you'll be comfortable in - we always suggest casual clothes and a splash of colour always looks great.

Thankyou for all your responses... absolutely no idea what to wear - at least i wont have that worry on the big day!

I will come back and let you know how it goes.

We are going into central London for ours, hoping for some casual shots in Hyde Park and then some shots on Southbank overlooking London eye etc.

    Hmmmm...,...

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but is a pre shoot something that people would recommend? How much do these cost roughly?

Hi RKB, not sure about recommending because haven't done it yet but our photographer just includes it in her prices.

Also suggested it because I am almost dreading being serious for some photos, good way to get to know and feel relaxed before the day with her.

I'm not sure i'd have paid out for one specifically if not included however, I'm kind of hoping I won't worry about the photos when it comes to it on the day!

Maybe I can offer some professional advice on this (I'm a Wedding Photographer).

The idea of an Engagement Shoot is to give you as a couple the chance to work with your photographer when its just the two of you. It gives the Tog a chance to see how you both behave in front of the camera (i.e. are you nervous / relaxed / natural / etc.). If you are nervous it will certainly help to relax you so when your big day comes your photos will look even better.

Its also an opportunity to get a great image you might want to use on the wedding invites or something else.

Some photographers charge for this, others include it in their packages. Either way, you are paying for it overall, so make sure you get the most from it. Relaxed clothing is the best way to go, as you want to look as natural as possible.

If the location of your wedding is not too far away, its usually a good idea to hold it there. Gives you both a chance to try out some things that there just will not be time to experiment with on the day. You can see what works and what doesn't.

Most of all, relax, and have a great time.

    Best wishes,

    Simon.

    Thanks everyone for advice.

Well it's done and it went very well!! However our photographer realised I'm a blinker!

It was very relaxed and like many have said it was a great opportunity to get to know how she works and how we work also, what works best etc.

It has definitely helped relax me for the photos on the big day!

    3 weeks!

    PompeyEm your photos are gorgeous!

bls14 - I'm glad your photoshoot went well and that it's made you feel better about the big day. I just asked you on your other thread how long it is until your big day but you've psychically answered the question over here ?
