Pregnant bridesmaids!!!

melly006, 17 February, 2011 at 22:36 Posted on Planning 0 5

Help please!!!

Both my bridesmaids are pregnant now! one is due in May and one is due in July..my wedding is in September! Im getting a bit worried about the time i have left to order dresses? I cant take measurements now obviously and the July birth does not give me lots of time to sort a made to measure dress out! I have looked at all catalogues and high street shops but its useless! The other problem is one of the girls is a plus size and im struggling to find a dress in her size?? Anyone with suggestions or advice i would be truly grateful! has anyone been through this?

    Hi Melly

I haven't been through this but it happened to a friend of mine. She had A line/empire line dresses that were clingier around the boobs and skirted over the hips and stomach, she ordered them too big and then had them taken in. For your plus sized bridesmaid try Monsoon, their sizes are very very generous for example an 18 is more like a 20.

    Hope this helps a little.

Have you thought about high street dresses? Then they don't need to be ordered in advance. As well as Monsoon, places like M&S, BHS and Debenhams do wedding collections so you wouldn't need to worry about getting them until much closer the time.

"Plus size" is a very wide, and often misleading - let alone inaccurate, after all, plus from what? - description. What size are you talking about?

Also, where in the UK are you? There are a number of 'plus size' specialist shops around the country that will be sure to be able to help you.

Hi, I posted a mood board on my blog http://lilguyweddings.blogspot.com/2011/02/1920s-inspiration.html with bridesmaid's dresses that may will help with your dilemma. One dress which can be worn in several ways to suit any shape/size.

    Hiya,

We can provide you with a special service to suit each bridesmaid regardless of what their size is and I can assure you that we are much less expensive than other shops that sell bridal wear.

Have a look at our website. Also, we give further discounts to Hitchers!!

I was a pregnant BM last year and the dress was purchased before I found out so was a slim fitting size 10! The dresses were bought from Very.co.uk and it was easily adjusted by adding a side panel to it and ribbon to give me as much room as I needed. It's probably best to try high st. as a) they tend to be cheaper and b) easier to adjust, but maybe wait until a little closer to the wedding...

Other alternative is to have them made. My friend had her dresses hand made and for 4 BMs it took 3 weeks.
