Pre-preparing mashed potato - urgent advice needed!

kelly29, 19 September, 2009 at 14:23 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

I have my parents round for dinner tonight and I'm trying to get myself organised as I'm not the greatest cook when it comes to timings, or rather, co-ordinating everything so that it's ready at the same time.

Is it OK to pre-make mashed potatoes and then just reheat it when it's time to serve? I'm only thinking about 30 minutes or so beforehand, but it means that I can free up a ring on the hob.

It's not going to ruin the mash is it?

That should be fine, I have also known people to put it in a casserole dish and bake it after cooking.

Pre-preparing mash is fine....I do it for most of my veg and then blast it in microwave just before serving.
