Presentation for interview. Advice please.

summer_sparkles, 3 June, 2009 at 09:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I have to do a presentation for an interview I have tomorrow. I've been putting some pictures on it and I have a slide that is on sleep related motor accidents and I've used a picture of a crumpled up car to reliterate the effects. Do you think this is a bit risky as the interviewers might have had a crash or am I thinking too much into this and it's just a picture to go with the slide?

I think it's fine, as long as it's related to the slide and not graphic (just a pic of the car, no people etc), it does re-iterate the effects so I think it's okay.

Don't make it too big and focus on talking about the slide rather than on the picture.

I think it depends on the subject of the presentation - if it was on road safety then I wouldn't be surprised to see it, iyswim. It also depends on the state of the car in a way - if its a total mangled write off on its roof, that *could* be upsetting whereas a car with a crumpled bonnet would be less so. Does that make sense?

If it illustrates a point you need to make in your presentation, then I can't see a problem at all. Who chose the subject? your or them?

It's a crumpled bonnet by a tree, no people etc. I'm an internal candidate and am not aware of any reason why that would upset them. It's a presentation on a sleep disorder, and the stats show people with this condition are more likely to crash their car.

I can't see any problem with it - it's appropriate to the subject, and it sounds as though you've bent over backwards to make it as tasteful as possible.
