I had thought about getting the photo of their choice from the wedding framed for each set of parents! And flowers for mothers but not sure about my mum as she then has to drive all the way back to Scotland from Suffolk.

I don't have a problem with parents, but I'm thinking the same way as you as far as step children go! So I guess that makes us as evil as each other lol

It's one of thos "done things" at weddings to giev the parents something. In some ways, you're not necessarily thanking them for their help on the day but for life.

I'm getting my Dad cufflinks (i think) and my Mam a silver plated engraved photoframe.

No idea for the in-laws (there's 4 of them!). Probably whiskey and flowers for both (my Mam hates flowers)

Do you need to buy them something? Generally presents are for the parents and for the people who've helped - Bridesmaids, Ushers, etc...

TBH - there are many "done things" in weddings and half of them most couples won't do...

We have parental issues but our video package includes 3 dvds so we are going to buy one extra (ohs mum and dad are divorced) and give one to each set of parents. We are also getting flowers for the mums but just a token really, we're not getting overly expensive bouquets (you may remember some of the problems I've been having with my mum....) and a pocket watch for my dad if I can find one I like!

This is causing me a dilemma as well.

My mum doesn't like flowers, and I can't think of what else to get her. She isn't really into jewellery and I'm not keen on the usual gifts.

We're getting engraved photoframes for my mum, H2B's mum & my dad n stepmum then probably whiskey for my dad n his dad.

His mum sells flowers in their farm shop n my mum isn't bothered with them so can't see the point on wasting money on them.

    Hi,

Just a quick question - those of you that are getting engraved photoframes - what are they engraved with? Names or something else?

    Thanks Smiley smile

FIL2b and my dad have got engraved beer glasses.

Mil2b and my mum are having flowers. Also brought my mum so gorgeous earrings.

And my mum and dad a engraved photoframe.

Both set of parents are having a photo album from the photographer and a dvd from the videographer each.

My parents have done so much for us both, not just with the wedding. So just wanted to do an extra something for them

Looking forward to seeing your frames later. They look very nice on ebay and I like the sound of the engraving. Will have to show OH and see what he thinks, but you might have just helped me solve one of my problems!! Smiley smile
