Pre-wedding shoot - locations

Melancholie, 8 April, 2008 at 16:52 Posted on Planning 0 8

Just had an e-mail from our photographer asking if we've decided on a location for our pre-wedding shoot yet. We've got two and a half weeks until the shoot and are still um-ing and ah-ing about where to have it done!

He made a couple of suggestions and we came up with a couple of ideas, but we can't seem to make a final decision. The photographer is happy to do a two location shoot so we can get a contrast (which I think may be photographer speak for "So you don't have to make a decision"!! ?) but we still can't decide! How rubbish are we?

Anyway, here are some of our suggestions. What do you think of these or, if you know London, what other ones should we be considering?

Rural
Kew Gardens
Richmond Park
Barnes

Urban
The South Bank

I really like the idea of the urban shoot, but h2b doesn't like attention and thinks we'll be laughed at if we go somewhere busy like the South Bank, so any suggestions for less busy urban areas would be appreciated!

I'd go for the centre of Covent Garden where the stalls and street artists are and then move on to Kew Gardens I think ?

Oooo, Covent Garden! I love that idea! Although h2b will probably have the same issues with that as he has with the South Bank.

Why do men have to be so awkward?! ☹️!]

Too many people, they'll be staring at us and "they'll think we think we're Posh and Becks or something". He doesn't like attention. When I said why were we getting married then cos he won't be able to avoid it on that day, he said, "That'll be different. People there will know why the photos are being taken. People on the street in London won't know and they'll think we're weird."

We did ours last weekend and did it on the Millenium Bridge with St Paul's in the background. We're moving to Australia soon after the wedding so it'll be nice to have a nice iconic 'Londony' backdrop.

It was pretty busy, which was a bit embarrassing to start with, but we just ignored it after a bit (although people kept looking thinking we were famous!). ?

So we had some with just St Pauls in the background, some on the bridge with some of the bridge and St Pauls in the background, some facing the other way with the Tate Modern in the background, and some just along the river.

That sounds cool, and we'd be able to get some with The Globe in the background too. I love The Globe.

If you are looking for a mix of urban and rural you can always try camden lock. It's a great place for pictures and you can always get away to the peace of the canal if the attention from passers by is too much.
