Pre-wedding Skincare!

Buzzee, 7 February, 2011 at 19:18 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hello

I have a while to go (10 1/2 months!) but am running low on my usual cheap skincare -i.e Simple Cleanser, Toner and Oil of Olay Daycream. I want to splash out on a new range and am after some recommendations for getting my skin glowing!

I would say i have 'normal' skin - but quite large pores on my nose. Have seen clinique do some 'pore minimiser' and wondered if that was recommended or if anyone has any other great brands. I prefer cream cleansers rather than face washes.

Also, looking for a nice body moisteriser - but seem to have quite sensitive arms so probably something hypo-allergenic/unfragranced.

Does anyone have any tried and tested recommendations.

I can absolutely recommend No 7 Radiance Boosting Hot Cloth Cleanser, I started using it in the New Year and my sister actually commented on how well my skin looked and my skin does feel absolutely lovely..

I suffer with troubled skin. It's always breaking out and I've been terrified of my skin getting worse for my wedding in 6 months time and looking like a spotty teenager in the photos. I have tried everything you can think of to help my complexion - dermalogica facials, glycolic acid peels, benozyl peroxide and the list goes on. I started using Lush products at the start of the year and it is amazing. There are so many thinks to choose from that are all targeted to specific things. I'm currently sat here with a face mask on called Cosmetic Warrior! The best thing about them is that they are made from natural ingredients. If you want any help in choosing what would best suit your skin, give me a shout! x

There was a thread a while ago about something similar and a lot of people mentioned Liz Earle? think it was like a hot cloth cleanser, some got it from the shopping channel and when i looked it up, they sell it at John Lewis also.

I have a small sample of the Clinique pore minimiser and on me it is fantastic... I need only apply it two days in a row and my pores appear dramatically reduced. I don't bother every day, just when I know I'm going somewhere special, but it has lasted a while and is now running out and I am actually considering buying it... me, who normally buys the cheapest moisturiser Boots can offer LOL!

Would recommend the Lush body lotion, it is quite nice and when you buy a pot some of the money goes to charity Smiley smile

The best cream cleanser I've ever used was 'purity made simple' by Philosophy. Sadly it has run out and I just don't have the budget to buy it but I've recently been using 'Clean Mary' from the Soap & Glory range and like it.

I am 3 months away from my wedding and I started to use liz earle 2-3 months ago, I can highly recommend it. I use the cleanse and polish, skin tonic and repair moisturiser. I was quite spotty before, now my skin is clear and looks really healthy. For extra moisturiser I use Elemis pro-collagen marine cream.

I've found that cleanser, toner and moisturiser etc doesn't do much for my skin. If i'm honest, i very seldom moisturise at all.

I use the olay daily facials wipes....but even then, i don't use them every day lol.

I do use a clay mud mask (the dry on the skin type) - which i find is good for bringing up spots

...then followed by Clear Skin face wash (for blackheads) - Its lovely as it's got a menthol extract and cools the skin.

Then just over the bridge of my nose and over my cheeks (where the cold effects my skin) I'll use a bit of nivea soft, just after i've used the above and i find my skin is oil free and clear from any major outbreaks.

Also, i've recently started using strongly salted water for those spots that break on the skin. it dries them up and shrinks them down really quickly. Much better than the stuff you buy in the shops for dabbing on a second head. xx

Thanks girls for your recommendations! i have just been on boots.com and ordered some no 7 goodies as they are 342 at the mo. they have a pore minimiser similar to clinique but a little cheaper so will try that first! i'm sure i've used their range before so should suit me - hopefully within a few weeks i'll be glowing!!
