Pre-wedding/engagment shoots what to wear???

DrBuffles, 26 March, 2014 at 17:44 Posted on Planning 0 10

We are going for our pre-wedding shoot at the end of june. I know I'm thinking about this really early but I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to wear and what to do with hair and make up to make the most of the photos.

If you have had one did you co-ordinate your outfit with your OH and did you do anything special with your make up so it shows up better in pictures?

    Hiya,

I'm hoping to organise our engagement shoot for next month but it's really just an opportuity for us to get to know our photographer and get comfortable being in front of his camera... I don;t know about you but I'm viewing it as a more informal affair where Mr McFarley and I can be a bit playful, relaxed and loved up so with this in mind I'll be wearing jeans most likely! I will probably run a brush through my hair too Smiley smile

What sort of thing are you having? Are you going out into the great outdoors or having a stuio shoot?

    xx

Just be yourself. Wear normal everyday clothes that you feel comfy in. Be prepared to sit or lie on the ground.....

Ours is a get to know our photographer type thing but I would like to get some nice pictures from it, It will be outside because we are taking our little sausage dog with us.

I don't really wear jeans as I'm a girlie girl so I was thinking a dress. Didn't think about having to sit on the floor!

I wore two dresses. one floral short one, and one long summery one. i wore the floral one as i wanted to showcase my shoes but my hip started to play up so i switched to flats and the flats look daft with the short dress so i changed to the long dress.

we had our shoot in the grounds of guildford castle. we tried to dress up a bit, but not too dressy if you catch my drift. mr winter wore 'nice formal' jeans, a white top and a black over shirt and my dresses were appropriate but nicer. our thinking being- when you're in nice clothes you hold yourself differently and at the wedding you'll be in nice clothes so we wanted practice with the different posturing.

    i've attached two pics:

not the best shots to demonstrate but they're the only ones to hand- sorry :/

wear whatever you feel like you want to- it's your shoot hun xxx

Ours was on Monday and I wore jeans and a nice top - however as it was cold and we were mostly outside I ended up having the majority of the shots taken in my shitty 5 year old ill fitting coat. ? So that is something worth thinking about although not such an issue in July hopefully! Didn't do hair/make-up as didn't have time and didn't want to make a big deal of it. We have only had a couple of shots back so far but here is the coat in all it's crapness ?

We just went as us, I hate having my picture taken, and was a bit fearful of it - but it was a great way to meet our wonderful TOG, Daffodil Waves.

We were delighted with them, and one of the things I love is that they are us, as we are, everyday, not made up or wearing something we don't normally wear...

I always suggest to my clients to wear outfits that reflect their personalities. But as suggested above, something you can move in and isn't too restricting would be ideal :-)

In reply to the makeup, I always say that apply a similar amount as if you were being taken out by your other half for a romantic evening meal! Slightly heavier then day time makeup, but not as heavy as if you were going clubbing.

    Hope that helps :-)

Ours was on a scorching hot day so I wore a floaty dress and pumps as I always feel nice in the dress, it's comfy and I thought it'd be nice to have a bit of colour in the photos. Either decide on it nearer the time when you know what the weather will be like or have a couple of outfits in mind, one if it's cold and another if it's warm .

Thanks to everyone for the replies and for sharing your lovely photos!

The dress I was thinking of is very 'me' and just a nice day dress rather than a fancy party dress. Having two outfits for potential weather situations is a good idea, thanks.

I'm just stressing because I hate photos of me at the best of times so don't want to hate my outfit too!
