Printing invitation help!

Juliana_B, 27 October, 2013 at 09:03 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hello all!

I'm trying to find a company that would print our invites (as well as supplying the cards). My friend is designing the content of the card so there is no need to find a ready made card.

Are there any recommendations? My brother has used printed.com but unfortunately they are limited to postcard shapes only.

    Hi Juliana,

Printed.com (although I have no experience using them) or any printers infact should be able to print your invites but you will need to speak to them directly about your 'bespoke' print job.

Where about are you based? I may be able to recommend a printer that is local to you for you to go in and chat to about your design. The only thing to consider is that if your friend who is designing the invites have no experience setting up artwork ready for print then you could run into some problems. The best thing to do is to speak to a printing company directly.

Give me a shout if you need any further advice. I work as a Graphic Designer.

Thank you for your advice. I'm based in London... when you say that you could recommend a printer local to me, does it mean that I'd need to source my own stationery or would they also be providing various cards/papers etc?

My friend is also a graphic designer so I'm pretty confident that she has a good understanding in that area.

Printing normally includes the stock, very few printing house will allow you to supply your own. The best thing to do is ask your friend to liaise with the printers because he/she would know what specification to ask the printer to quote on. Are there no printing company your friend normally uses that can print your invites? That would be the best route to take as she'll already have a relationship with the printer and may be able to get you a good rate. You should be fine using any printers in the UK if your friend will help you with sourcing the printing - I was just thinking of a local one more for you to go in to chat to.

Lots of hitchers have used VistaPrint to print their invites and been very pleased with them; if you add an item to your basket and leave it a few days they normally inundate you with offers by email so you should be able to get a good price ;-)

We got our save the dates from vistaPrint and they were really good quality and they have been offering us loads of offers like 20% off our next order if you wait for a sale weekend they are really good prices and nearly always have on-line voucher codes you can use on top of sale prices
