Professional photobooks

RomanticPurpleStationery346, 6 July, 2016 at 09:55 Posted on Planning 0 4

I was after some advice on photobooks.

Our photographer has recommended a folio album (folioalbums.com) which are amazing and we'd love one but they are very pricey from him and don't sell direct to the public. (£500)

We are happy to pay a fair amount for a book so not from photobox etc. Does anyone have any recommendations for luxury books with Lay flat thick pages.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi!

£500+ is a ball park figure for most (really good) albums. The cost price averages at around £300+ depending on options for a 30 pager and even then the photographer has to pay the additional shipping to themselves and then to you after checking it all. Along with the time taking full responsibility and acting as the middle person between you and the supplier in case something goes wrong.

I know you weren't saying the cost is unreasonable, just that anyone who does the (high end) pro books won't be making much on them so you might find that the pain of handling the design side of things isn't worth the savings to be had.

The only company I know who does nice books and will sell direct are Loxley colour.

In most cases the cost price of some of the (high end manufacturer) books start at around £300 with a Queensberry Musee album starting at a whopping 2k. A folio album for £500 is an average to very good price tbh.

Just wanted to second everything that Chris said. £500 is a good price for a professional photo book. Similar to Folio, most suppliers will only sell their albums to photographers. And Loxley is definitely worth recommending.

    Hope this helps Smiley smile

Thank you. I'll have a look at your recommendations. I do understand the £500 price tag, just a bit too much for us to spend.

If anyone else has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful.

What has been said by other togs is spot on.....you do get what you pay for...anything else is a compromise....

I guess thats not the answer you wanted.....

We love the quality of Folio and charge the same without much allowed for the time and shipping involved. We offer to arrange them any time after the wedding with no commitment, so if you are able to wait and save up then I would definitely recommend it! x
