How much of a stickler for them are you? If I ever get requests at work to do something without the word "please" in, I always email back saying they have forgotten something.

I regularly correct children if they neglect to say "please" or "thank you" but also do this to adults. Am I turning into my Granny?!

I'm the same. It was the way I was brought up though.

Working in retail, I hate it when people don't say please and thank you. They usually get a sarkie remark from me in return...

Most of the time my children say 'please' and 'thank you', but on the few times they've forgotten I've given them 'the look'...

One of my pet hates is when people ring for one of the directors at work and just say their name. Not "good morning could I speak with Mr Smith please?" just "John Smith".... silence.

    RUDE!!!!!!

That is rude! My old boss used to phone me and say 'two sugars'. That's it, no please or anything. There's no excuse for a lack of manners.

The guy who just asked me to do something minus the "please" has just apologised and sent me lots of kisses. This is not the response I wanted.

Glad I'm not the only one who hates this. When I worked in a summer camp in America, the kids all went home & had it drummed into them to always say "please" and "thank you". They really had fun with me... ?

H helped out his BM last month with some documentation ready for his holiday. BM took the paperwork from him and walked away reading it and never said a single word. They've not spoken since and his "granny fanny" girlfriend has deleted us from FB!? Strange cow.

At work, it bothers me but I'd never refuse to do something that wasn't accompanied by a "please". I just write off that person as a rude git.

At home, I will prompt Boy, who always claims he says "please" and "thank you". Apparently, my ears are just not attuned to the low-voiced, begrudging manner in which he says these things Smiley smile

Ha ha ha, TBH she is not really that old, but she is 10 years older than him and she has hammered the sun beds so looks older than she is. She has also got hands like Peter Shilton, so her other nickname is Tranny Fanny.

I get really narked if people don't say please and thank you. Like when you let someone past you when your shopping or help someone out in some way and especially when driving. Grrrrrrr it really gives me the rage! I am often known for a verbal outburst along the lines of "manners don't cost anything you know!", "someone wasn't taught very good manners were they" or just a very loud sarcastic "Thank You!!" tends to work too. I like to see them embarrassed as they walk away.

It annoys me but it's rare that I'm confrontational about it.

My pet peeve is holding a door open for people who fail to acknowledge it. I respond with a huge smile and a jolly sounding 'You're welcome!'. Idiots.

I also hate it but don't pull people up on it (apart from my kids!). I prefer to be smug and superior instead and inwardly think very dark thoughts about rude people.

This too. 100%. Hate it! Also I hate when I say thanks to people and then ignore it or just grunt at me. Would a "you're welcome" really take that much time and energy?! Or even just a pleasant smile.

    I always do this.

I also hate it when you let other drivers through and they don't wave to acknowledge you.

I complain about this but Boy points out that the last thing he wants when someone is trying to negotiate a potentially tight gap, with his car being prime candidate for any resultant crash, is for them to feel like they should lift their hand off the wheel and look away from the road.
