push your keys through the door on the way out...

It's my last day of work today and I'm all on my own, it's a bit weird! I've been working for an estate agency for a couple of years on their graduate scheme, but with the market and so on have decided to pursue another career - I start my PGCE on Monday. I'm nervous about it, but looking forward to it. But being here (until 2pm) on my own feels very odd. I've taken all my certificates down from the walls, taken my potted plants home, cleared my review list...

Just answering calls until my hours are done now. It's a very odd experience! Has anyone done this before? I feel like I should be running round shredding documents and wiping my fingerprints off the photocopier ?

I'm an estate agent currently in the office on my own! I am in with another colleague today but he's out at the moment.

When we opened on Sundays I was often in on own - hated it, sooooo quiet, so I know how you feel.

Make sure you don't leave any personal email on the system. At least you're only working till 2.00pm, I here till 5 ? (although it is a bit busier since the kids have gone back to school so shouldn't be toooo dire).

I'm starting a PGCE on Monday too so know how you're feeling! I'm more nervous now that I was when I first went to uni. Hope your last day at work is quiet and hassle free!

    Thank you to both!

cjb, i feel your pain! i used to do saturdays and sundays for about a year, which was awful from the not seeing h or feeling as if i had any time off point of view. but they stopped doing sundays and cut the saturday hours a month or so ago, thank goodness. i hope your saturday goes quickly - 5pm is harsh for a saturday! and i hope you get lots of reasonable offers and reasonable vendors to recognise them ?

fizzy lizzy - i think when i was 18 i was more bothered about moving into halls than about the course! i definitely agree i'm more scared now, but i'm hoping i'll be more committed because i know what the alternative is, and it's been so slow in estate agency recently that i've been going mad with nothing to think about, i'm looking forward to something to learn.

I know exactly how you feel... I used to ❤️ saturdays, they were such a buzz it was the best day of the week, but for the past 6 months at least it's been dreeeeeaaaaaaaaaadful.. I'm stopping Saturdays in a few weeks, changing to 3 weekdays, so not too many to go (and the way the market's going, I might have 7 days a week off soon!).

Only an hour to go for you, eek!

Good luck for your PGCEs guys!

I'm just starting my 7th year of teaching, doesn't seem that long since I was at uni myself doing my B.Ed.

It's hard work but so worth it!

Just dropping by to say good luck to anyone starting a PGCE next week. I work with trainees a lot through Warwick Uni, and I know that you've got a year of hard work ahead but that successful trainees are embarking on the biggest adventure of their lives. Being a teacher is brilliant. I hope you get lovely schools and fab mentors. (If you find yourself at my school you will ?)

Yes, didsbury! i'm doing secondary english.

had an odd first day - everything's at sixes and sevens because i didn't go through gttr (was post-clearing that i applied) so i couldn't enrol today - had a bit of a ? moment when a woman in the office was outstandingly rude to me for no reason whatsoever, treated me as if i were absolute dirt and had an iq in negative figures... it was the shock of how out of the blue it was that got me, though. everyone else has been really nice. but this was the equivalent of walking into a shop and the assistant coming up and shouting OFF in my face for no reason ??

i mean, i knew students were meant to be sub human, but i thought that was just undergrads ?
