QQ for frequent London underground users

Does anyone know if there are many steps to climb if you were travelling from Kings Cross to Leicester Sq?

I've looked online and downloaded a guide off the TFL site but I'm getting conflicting info and thought I might get a definitive answer here instead.

Also, if I walk out of Leicester Sq tube, would I have an issue finding somewhere to meet friends (with children) for a drink within about a 2 minute walk?

?

It's possible to get into KC underground without using any stairs provided the lifts are working (one has been out a lot recently). There is a short two stage flight of steps to get out at LS. There are loads of places round LS but it wouldn't be my first choice to meet with kids.

WSGLS. Leicester Sq is mank. You'd be better off getting a buss to Russel Square or somehwere like that.

Thanks S, thats really useful info. Where do you think would be good? The person with children (who can't walk far) will be travelling from KC to Green Park but doesn't want to meet at KC or GP..........

Oh right, thanks Sophie. I didn't realise Leicester Sq was so vile.

Is there anywhere else we can get to easily by tube rather than bus though?

    Sorry, I know I'm being a fussy PITA ?

Is there no way she'd meet you at KC? I have limited mobility and would rather do that than have to travel on the tube etc just to go to a cafe when there are some at KC, although the bus idea is a good one, less walking.

Yes we can meet at KC but she wanted to have a ciggie (several) and thought that would be better but maybe it won't be really. Their train gets in about 40 mins before mine and they thought sitting in the station would be too hot and crowded.

Just to add, where we meet, is just to meet after a long train journey. We won't be staying for any length of time (an hour or so).

The refurbished St Pancras station has oodles of cafes (and a branch of Hamleys) that's where I would meet if it was meant to be quick and hassle free. It is right next door to KC (you can get into it using the lifts)
