QQ re the Euro/exchange rates

Bird., 3 August, 2009 at 13:04 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

We're off to Spain on Sunday and usually just go to the post office or Marks and Sparks to get all our spending money in cash beforehand. However with the exchange being as it is, are we missing a trick somewhere along the line? Is it better to get cash over there? Or use our cards for shopping etc? Or is the PO still the best bet?

Thanks?

    www.comparetravelmoney.co.uk ?

We got a fairfx card (for USA travels) and the rate we get there tends to be better than anything on the highstreet, but it's too late for your trip. Maybe next time

I always just get cash out of the cash machines when I get there (just as I would in the UK). You'll pay a transaction fee, but I think it's worth it for a better ER, and so that you don't have to cart round a tonne of cash the whole time. Plus you only take out what you need.

And I pay for non-cash transactions with my credit card as it gets the best ER IME.
