'If you are wanting to follow tradition then It's generally how many people you have in your wedding party

BM, MOG, FOB, BRIDE, GROOM, MOB, FOG, MOH, BM!

You see, i would have said that traditionally it is:

CBM, FoG, MoB, Groom, Bride, FoB, MoG, Best Man

There's going to be 10 of us at our top table as both side of the family have jobs! FIL said he doesn't want to sit next to my mum as he's scared of her!!!

    Debrettes wedding bible guide says...

If the bride and groom decide to have a top table, the traditional seating plan (facing the table from left to right) is as follows: CBM, FotG, MotB, G, B, FotB, MotG, and the best man.

But it also suggests a round table with 'couples' sitting next to one another if that would be easier and less 'on display'. That's what we're doing (Not because that what Debrett's tells us too, but beause I we want to). x

Our room doesn't have anymore space for another round table (having 9 of them for guests) and a massive miror on the wall we sit under on a long table (which i quite like).

We were thinking of no top table - just me and him maybe

or we were going to leave spaces on each guest table where we would move around and have a different course on each table (too much of a faff and we not having 9 courses!!)

I think i've got is sussed now - thanks ladies for the help Smiley smile x

So traditionally you're supposed to split your parents up and sit them with the in-laws?

HILARIOUS. I'd love to see my parents' faces if I did that!!
