Question about Florists

Rod, 9 November, 2010 at 13:04 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi, I am in the process of choosing a florist and had a few questions about them ;-

Do they deliver your bridal flowers (bouquet and bridesmaids) to your home? If so, does this include the button holes or would they be delivered to the ceremony venue? cos obviously i cant give out the buttonholes!

Reception flowers - they would deliver the flowers to the reception venue right? would the florist decorate the tables? i.e. Put the centrpieces in and put some scatter crystals around? I want tall martini glasses - would they provide these?

I was hoping someone could answer these questions before i go visiting any florists so I dont make a t1t of myself haha !

Thanks!! x

It is best to ask your florist, don't worry we get asked the same questions by most Brides & each florist works differently.

    To answer your questions

    a) They will usually deliver them to your home & the buttonholes will be taken to the church by either the Ushers or the Best Man will collect them from you. If the florist is providing flowers at the church then she will also deliver the buttonholes if you ask.

    b) Some florists will just deliver the flowers & the venue staff will set up as you request & some will actually set it all up for you.

It will depend on the individual florists you talk to, but generally most will deliver what you want to you at home and decorate the venue. If the groom is close by, I'll deliver the buttonholes too, or take them to the Church if I'm decorating there. Your florist should be able to source martini vases for you even if they don't have them already. Personally, I'm more than happy to add scatter crystals etc. More often than not, I just do what needs to be done with the table centres, and the venue do the rest while putting out place names and laying the tables etc.

Sounds like you are asking the right questions, you just need to ask the florist, each florist I can imagine is different.

Ours has said they will do three deliveries, one brides house, one church and the other at the reception. So similar to what you want I'd imagine.

I used a Wedding Flowers Guide - http://www.iamengaged.co.uk/Planning/weddingflowers/wedding_flowers_guide to make sure I asked all the right questions on the day of meeting the florists

There might be an additional charge for extra deliveries
