Question about what is allowed!

ladytog, 21 April, 2008 at 09:36 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hello, I've registered in as another name so I can check something with the administrater or other knowledgable Hitched girlies!

Basically I am a wedding photographer and have allocated a huge space in my diary for a holiday that isn't happening now (boo!), I would like to offer a HUGE discount for bookings in this space and am wondering if its ok to post this on the forum? Does it count as blatent advertising? I do already have a paid advert on Hitched in the suppliers directory and I am an experienced professional, not a newbie starting out.

Thanks for any advice

ladytog

I think (though I could be wrong) that someone has to ask for a service before it is offered

    What are you offering anyway?

You should have just posted under your normal ID. If your offering a discount then i'm sure some people will contact you if they are looking for someone around the same dates.

I think some will look on it as blatent advertising but hey ho... doesn't particularly bother me but there are those who do take exception to it. You will probably get interested parties contacting you from this post so you probably won't need to post under your original name anyway.

I'm just checking what I can post, I will post it anyway under my normal name and if its removed then never mind - at least I gave it a go!

I think probably yes, it would be viewed as advertising... it is a shame there isn't really anywhere to post HIB 'offers' but I can understand why they don't allow it too ?

There used to be a few years ago on the MSN thingy (sorry, never used it myself) but I think it died a death after about a year. Have you tried putting it on your website as a special offer? There are always last minute Brides who don't realise we get booked up months in advance!

I think it would be seen as advertising and removed. We all have special offers going at one time or another - best to just put it up on your website.
