Question for photographers

SunnyDaze, 17 April, 2008 at 19:06 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi

This might be the most stupidest question you've ever heard... so apologies in advance.

I know that one can photoshop fat bits/spots out etc, but if you have a load of pics where eyes are closed/half closed, if there anything you can do about that please?

Thanks

Hi, it's not a stupid question at all. It is possible to fix images where eyes are closed or half closed. I had one photo of the groom where his mouth was all wrong, but the bride loved the rest of the shot. I ended up taking his head from another image and moving it across!

With eyes, you do the same thing, you try to find a similar photo which is about the same size and has the same lighting etc and you can copy it across. In some cases you can make the change directly to try to 'open up' the eye. Everything is possible, it just takes time.

I've seen this done many times and some are quite good, though it does take time to get close up scrutiny really convincing.
Perhaps a few examples from photographers would illustrate the best ones for you.

Is it an expensive process? And would they do it for photos not taken by themselves, ie these are amatuer ones taken by family and friends.

    Thanks!

    It's the time that's expensive.

I have done it though to be honest unless you have two very similar pictures it's very hard to make it look convincing. Fine for a group where they aren't the main subject but I wouldn't like to have to try it on a single portrait.

Hopefully, some of the more artier photographers will be along to show you how it's done properly.

Its not a daft question, and to be honest a decent professional shouldn't really take many like that, because we watch peoples faces.

However I do end up with a shot like that, I consider it my fault and will automatically fix it. To be honest the client would never even know I done it.

I get many requests to fix similar problems with other peoples photos, and it entirely depends on the time required. Sometimes its so easy, I'm done in 15 minutes, other times it can take hours. Cost depends on the time, but can start from £20.00

If you like, send it over to me, and I'll be able to give you a quote.

If you want to contact meplease do so on *******@********************.**.** or call me on ****

Hope to hear from you soon,
    Paul.
