Question re table layout - tables with blocked view of top table

kezza3000, 21 July, 2011 at 20:04 Posted on Planning 0 4

Just taken my parents to look at the venue for the first time. They really liked it but they made a big fuss about the room for the wedding breakfast. It is a funny shaped room, kind of a T shape, and the wedding co-ordinator had to talk us through where all the tables would be because it wasn't set up. Two tables would have a slightly blocked view of the top table.

My mum and dad seemed to think this was a big problem, but it doesnt bother me at all. I was thinking that the only time it would be a problem was during the speeches and then people could either stand or move their chairs to see....surely the rest of the meal they would be eating and talking to others on the table, and not need a permanent view of the bride and groom? I just wondered what others thought and if this was a problem?

We've got the same problem at our venue. No matter what your room is like, if you are having round tables there are always going to be some people who can not see you during the meal and as you say, they can turn around, move during the speeches.

I hope this doesn't get taken the wrong way but are you having children at the wedding? If so, how about seating them in the restricted view seats, doubt they would be too interested in the speeches anyway.

Ahh yes what a good idea. We will have children at the wedding, and we have a couple that have three kids so we could probably sit them there. Yes, we will have round tables, so I did point out to my mum and dad that even on those tables with no wall in the way, there would still be guests with their back to the top table.

I wouldn't think it to be that important, but the children suggestion could work well.

    Hi

I had a similar problem in the original room we booked and soon changed, the pillers would block the guests views

We opted to have it in the room were having the eve reception instead so that cured that problem

but even so, we have 10 children coming, so we decided on having 1 table just for them to have, this table will be right down the bottom as Im sure they wont be interested in speeches and such, just the childrens menu they are having, I bet the adults might moan they are not getting their menu lol xx
