Questions for the venue

Houdini, 28 January, 2010 at 10:52 Posted on Planning 0 7

We're off to our venue tonight for a 'future brides and grooms night' whatever that may be! Apparently all the wedding co ordinators will be there for us to ask questions and we're having a meal with live entertainment etc.

Anyway, I had all these plans to come up wih questions to ask and I didn't so I only have 4 so far!

1) How many people to a table? (Am hoping 8!)

2) How do we need to provide the music for the day? Does each part need to be seperate (eg aisle music, register signing, walking out, meal etc...)?

3) When do we have to give you the food choices and has the menu changed from the original in the wedding brochure?

4) How many rooms can we have on the morning for people to get ready in? (Bridal suite is available from 10 and 2 others needed preferably)

Anything else you can think of??

TIA!

In addition to your question about how nmany per table - you should ask how may tables they can fit in. If there can fit a good number in then say you want 8 per table. I'm assuming the venue will be set up to showcase it so you should be able to check this out. Count how many tables are there and see if that would fit your numbers. Look where possible for the room to fit with your requirements, not you to fit with it's requirements

The venue will probably tell you lots of information anyway and once you're there and chatting, you'll think of other things to ask.

    Thanks GeordieBarbie.

We already know which room it is being held in and that it can accommodate our numbers, it's just that I don't know if we can have 8 tables of 10 or 10 tables of 8 iyswim? Tonight is purely for people who already have their weddings booked there.

Ooh, table decorations - must ask how they wnt them provided.

If your having an evening buffet asked if its an unlimited buffet, so will they keep topping it up. We're paying £12.95 a head and catering for 80%, but we've been told they will keep topping the food up until 12pm which is great! So people should never go hungry.

Are you allowed candles on tables etc (I know some venues won't allow then, thankfully mine does!)

Are there any flowers or decorations included? We're using the arrangements from the ceremony room, and placing them in our buffet room for the evening!

Ask when you (or your suppliers) can get in to set things up/deliver items? Will the venue set up your decorations (table centres etc) or does someone need to go in and sort them?

Also check with them about where you can put things like your table plan - or do they provide one? Some venues provide the menus and things like that already, so you should ask to see the stationery choices available.

Have the venue given you a form to fill out with all of your supplier details? They may need to know your photographer/band's/suppliers' info, whether your providing him/her/them with a meal/refreshments. So it's worth checking how they'd like that info supplied.

Are you using their wine or are you bringing it in? If you're bringing it in, when do they need it by, is there a limit on storage, etc.

    Hope this helps!

Ooh and cake - what happens about that? When do they need it? Where will it go? Will they cut it up for you etc.?

If its a hotel, after the night do has finished will the bar be kept open for people or just residents that have booked in?

If you are having a DJ do he/she need a playlist from you?

Erm these are pants questions but the ones I thought of have been suggested above!
