Questions questions!

MrsStobe13, 27 March, 2012 at 14:53 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hello ladies,

I wondered if anyone could help me with these scenarios? I'm in a bit of a cofuffle so would appreciate your thoughts and opinions!

Firstly, has anyone ever heard of classical and modern music used in the same ceremony? My H2B wants me to walk the aisle to Canon in D Major, which I love, but I would like use to sign the register to Nick Lachey's This I Swear. Would it work, as I've never heard of both being used in one ceremony before?

Secondly, our colour scheme is ivory and gold. I told my Mum earlier, but she thinks we need a second colour to "break it up" as it's too neautral. We want a soft, airy feel about our wedding. We're opting for organza where materials go to create a softer, dreamier look. Should we add another colour or does it sound find to you?

Argh, still 13 months to go and already so many questions! At least we might have our venue decided on Saturday!

I have heard classical for entrance and mondern (the beatles) for exit music so that would work. i am having the glasgow love theme for my entrance & then a Dance song for omy exit dso i'm going with it.

i think if youa re wanting those colours then stick with it. you dont have to have a colour. there are alot of peopl ehwo have very neutral colour schemes. if you really wanted to could you go with very pale pink.

hope thats helps (just my opinions)

I don't think theres an issue with mixing the types of music personally...

With the colours, I can see what your mum means, but I'm nopt sure you NEED another coliur - could you opt for some darker golds?

I suppose (in my head at least) dusky pinks, muted sagey greens could remain in your floaty feel... but not sue they do the job of 'breaking it up'.

Sorry, not sure this helped much!!

Music- can't see why not, its your ceremony after all. Do what you want.

Colour scheme- sounds fine to me. I wouldn't add anything else in, I would leave it as it is.

Its your wedding, do what you want!

Oddly enough..I was wondering about adding some soft pink as one of my girls has pointed out some gorgeous jewellery which has pink crystals, so that could really work :-D

We are having a 'white wedding'. Everything is pretty neutral.

Groom is wearing his three piece dark grey suit with a gold cravat.

    My dress is ivory.

    BM dress are gold

    Flowergirls are ivory

Bouquet is ivory and yellow (ok not so neutral but gold flowers don't exist and I didn't want just white flowers)

    Accessories a silver and pearly.

Tables are pretty much all clear/white gerberas/silver mirror plates

Favours are white and ivory m&m's

I obviously think neutral looks good. You don't need to stick to just gold. Ivory, white, gold, silver, natural cardboardy colour, I think lots of shades all together create a really cool, calm, elegant look.

P.s. I'm not really sure you can add another colour to break things up, without that becoming your colour scheme.

Pale pink is another neutral, it won't break things up but will compliment the other pale neutrals.

DarkMoomin, love it! I love the dark green from the roses too..adds some real dimension without actually "adding" anything :-D

Duckbum, oddly enough, my BMs are in gold as well. Groom is wearing a slate grey waistcoat with a gold tie (he's a casual skinny kinda guy, so he's going for the "armless" look ;-)). We aren't having any flowergirls as there's nobody really young enough, pageboy will have same style as the groom, my bouquet wil be ivory roses with gold pearl crystals and a bridal ivory dress. We're going for an informal and elegant function, with a general light and breezy atmosphere. We're looking for a venue surrounded by greenery so it takes on as more of a family gathering than a formal occasion.

I am getting married in December and we have chosen gold and ivory as our colours. My mum too wasnt impressed she wanted me to have red for christmas!

I am sticking with it and and we are having a variety of golds and so far everything we have bought goes together lovely. I dont really care if no one else likes it as long as we do!

Stick with what colours you want its your wedding ?

Thanks Melly, we were stuck for ideas then fell in love with the Me to You stationery from last year- so that was how our colour scheme came about! We are Me to You mad (first gift H2B ever got me was a Me to You 18th birthday hiball glass!) so it just had to come up at the wedding!

Your colour scheme sounds lovely. Different shades of creams, champagnes and golds will add a bit of dimension and texture. You certainly don't need some gawdy colour changing your whole look. Your day sounds lovely as it is! Stick to your guns if thats what you want!

My OHs cousin had an ivory and gold wedding it was lovely - they had antiquey gold bridesmaids dresses, lot sof white flowers, candles, gold bows on the chair covers etc. It was fine - you really dont need to add another colour. Here is a pic of their venue room to give you an idea
