questions to ask the venue?

ashlil, 12 April, 2010 at 11:19 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi Guys..

I need help on questions to ask the venue.. we are all booked and confirmed but not sure really what I need to be asking.. more around what they will do against what we HAVE to do/provide. Its ages away but I like to be a bit organised ?

thought the following - am i missing anything?

What works well for a winter wedding? generally??

Table Coverings.. whats supplied?

Tealights/candles permitted?

Place name holders - supplied?

Can I use table runners?

As its only 25 guests sit down, what table setup options are there?

Arrival drinks.. whats on offer?

Canapes offering? (already know details on menu) but this is extra

Venue setup - do we need to do anything?

Can they arrange our cheese cake for us?? if so what do they need from us?

Music CD for ceremony - can they control this? ... or is the registrary office???

?

Oooh I am meeting with our venue tonight and have a list of questions but will be interested to see if anyone comes up with anything I havent thought of.

Mine are pretty much along the same lines as yours. I guess you will think of questions to ask as you go along too when certain subjects are raised etc...at least I am hoping thats what happens

Looks like a pretty comprehensive list! Def think the venue setup one is good to check on because I was expecting my bridesmaids and I to do all the table setups etc but was told the hotel's wedding planner does it all (we do a mock setup of a table the week before and she replicates it the day before the wedding) which is a great relief.

The other thing I would suggest is asking what they provide as standard decorations around the room, I know some hotels automatically provide flowers or other decorations for around the room generally, as well as just the tables. Also, how about what's provided in terms of food tasting sessions - some venues do them, others don't so if this is something you want, it might be worth checking when they do them. That's about all I can think of!

Here are a few i thought of

What plates do they use? If they are coloured then that may influence your colour scheme.

What chairs are used? do they have chair covers that you can use?

Do they have a list of suppliers as they may well give discount if you mention your venue

Will yours be the only wedding on the day you want?

    Do they allow confetti?

When can you or your suppliers get onto the rom to set it up? If tehr eis a wedding teh day before then you may find everythign has to be done on the day

Do they have a cake stand and knife?

Do they have a prefered order of the day? Some places like the day esp the meal to go in a certain way ie when the speaches are etc

What time are they licensed till?

What photo locations are there around the venue?
