Quick CV question

Ms. Scarlett, 25 August, 2009 at 14:22 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

What's the general consensus these days about dates of birth on CVs in the UK? Also, when do you stop listing your A levels and just say how many you got?

Thanks in advance!

I don't bother with DOB it's obvious from my CV anyway, I list my A level subjects (not results as they were crap) if I was strapped for space I suppose I'd get rid of them but I'm not so they just stay there

I don't give my date of birth, though it would be pretty easy to work out my approximate age from my uni dates. I don't even mention my A-levels, I just start the education section from my first degree (I'm 29 and I think I removed them when I got my PhD but it may have been before then).

Thanks - yes my DOB is also obvious from my CV so redundant really. Might scrap the A levels too, regardless of grades I don't think it would be the deciding factor in whether to interview me! Cheers

Vicksterooo, I don't know why really, but most academic CVs I see from the UK do seem to have this included! I agree, it's pointless. I am an academic, so yes, I think the A levels can go! Thanks.

I suspect that, as a group and with many exceptions, we're not great at writing CVs!

I still include my A-levels because I got straight As?

Me too (do you think we're old enough to talk about how they were much harder in our day? I did mine 11 years ago)
