Quick Desserts

Ali_G, 30 August, 2013 at 11:23 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

Going to a BBQ tomorrow evening and I've offered to take some desserts.

Please hit me with your quick recipes.

I'm making a tiramisu and one other dessert, but I don't have enough time to bake for ages.

Any suggestions?

Bunch of bananas, chuck them on the BBQ when all food is taken off. When the skin is black all over take the off, make one long slice down the skin open it up so its like a boat pour on your choice of liqueur, crumbled flakes and whipped cream

Yep - quicky cheat's lemon 'cheesecake' with no cheese! Or with limes to be cheat's key lime pie!

Make base of biscuits/butter etc. however you usually would
One large carton of double cream
One large tin of condensed milk
Juice of a couple of lemons and or limes.
Beat all ingredients together. Whack ontop of your base and chill. If I can be bothered I do a couple of curls of lemon/lime rind in the middle heaped up.

I make key lime pie like this and every single time I have done it there has been nothing but crumbs left. I make my biscuit case with chocolate covered digestives to make for an extra yummy treat.

    Angel Delight!

Fruit tart - pre rolled puff pastry base cut into a square or circle, egg wash and plonk whatever fruit you want on top and sprinkle with a generous amount of sugar and bake for about 20-25mins (depending on the fruit you use can sprinkle a few spices on top too) Plums, apples, peaches and apricots all work well.

Chocolate mousse? I do a Lorraine pascal one and its lush and really easy. Can even make it in the morning to save time later.

I will admit I've made it the day before making sure I use really fresh eggs (as they are raw), not killed anyone yet!

Cheat trifle - buy madeira cake or similar and cut slices, drizzle with orange liqueur or not if you'd rather, then layer with custard, whipped cream, and berries of choice.
