Quick divorce question.

bubbly, 28 August, 2008 at 16:21 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

Right, so I am filling the papers next week at my local county court. MrB is expecting them and is aware he only has 8 days to return them.

He is going to sign and return them and agree to the divorce and the reasons I have given (we discussed what to put down together so there will be no suprises).

Once he signs and returns the papers I understand that I will be sent a copy... but what happens then?

Do I need to do anything else at that stage?

Thanks.

No you don't need to do anything. From experience a judge at the court will look at the reasons and send you a document saying that the reasons are valid and you can then apply for the nisi.

(this is what happened to me - I assume it's the same but could be wrong)

Once you have the sealed acknowledgement of service form back from the court - what h has to sign and return - you need to complete application for directions form and an accompanying affidavit - form varies depending on which ground used for divorce. once they go to the court a date will be set for the judge to review the papers and reasons and then decree nisi will be pronounced. hope that helps. thought i'd reply as you defo do need to do something in between now and D nisi. x
