Quick question about guest tables

victoriamarie, 7 June, 2011 at 11:54 Posted on Planning 0 4

Do you think it would look silly to have some tables with 10 people on (max amount) and some with only 6? I am grouping people together who know each other and this is the way it is working out.

If the tables are all the same size and big enough to fit 10 round then id be inclined to say it would look a bit odd with just 6..but then i cant visualise it so cant be sure!

We thought this would be an issue, but we went to the venue on Fri and saw that 10 around a table looked too squashed so are going for mainly 8's and we have a 6 too. Should be fine.

Hmm, I wouldn't do this. Not only because asymmetry of any kind causes short circuits in my brain but also, I am sure that our guests are perfectly capable of spending dinner with people they don't know. In fact, some have openly said they prefer it like that. So I'm going for an evenly spread mix. But I completely get that some people wouldn't like to mix it up too much (not saying one way is better than the other).

Ours sat 8 comfortably and 10 max. We ended up with some tables of 7, mostly 8 and some 9. Those with higher numbers had children on them so didn't take up so much room.

I think a jump from 6 to 10 may look a little odd as it is quite a large jump. I would look at maybe mixing them up a little... these are grown ups after all!

I dont think it will be a problem - I have some tables with 6 on and a couple with 9 on. I think when you have your centrepieces and things on the tables it really wont matter.

I dont think it matters in the grand scheme of things! No-one will notice xxx
