Quick question, help needed

yummymummy05, 11 April, 2010 at 20:56 Posted on Planning 0 9

Evening all,

Just a quick question, the majority of things we've booked so far, we've only paid the deposit and the rest is due 6-8 weeks before. H2B mentioned paying a few things off early (ie; venue dresser, tog, etc).

Anyone else doing this or is it stupid?

    Hi

Weve paid most things off as well Smiley laugh we like the idea of having most things paid off so we dont have to worry about it.

Yep!! We have paid the tog, car and band in full and plan to do cake and florist ladies soon too, i can understand that some people wouldnt think paying in full so early would be a good idea but we are happy and confident with the people we have chose so we just wanted to get on and pay so its one less thing to worry about! x

Ooops nearly forgot, have paid the hair stylist too x

I think we will probably do a similar thing with the venue for our daughter's wedding. They said we can pay lump sums off as and when we like over the next 12 months which we would prefer as I don't like the idea of having a huge invoice lingering in the future LOL! We've got her some wedding insurance so hopefully in the unlikely event of the venue going bust, we'll be covered. Some friends have said that it's better to keep the money in the building society so we get the interest rather than the venue but with the interest rate for savers being as rubbish as it is at the moment, not much point really!

I was going to do this, however so many people told me not too that i changed my mind...instead i have been paying my mom installments each month and she will make all the payments in the month before hand...that way i can pay over the course of time but not have the worry of losing the money...plus my mom is not very involved so she loved having such an important job to do x

Some suppliers will give you an extra discount for paying in full at time of booking as well. worth asking even if it's 5% its something!
