Quick question - TOG start time?

SouthB2B, 7 June, 2011 at 07:19 Posted on Planning 0 11

Making final supplier calls at lunchtime and just interested what time your TOG is starting (and then also what time you are leaving for the ceremony)? Not sure how early we want them! TIA x

I think it tends to be down to the photographer you book as we all work to similar yet different times. I always judge it on what the bride wants and what she is comfortable with then judge it on that.

if you want some getting ready shots then I would be at the brides home for an hour maybe longer. before heading to where the service is 30 mins prior.

for you to arrive you dont want to turn up to early so i would aim to turn up 5 to 10 mins before the service.

Our daughter got married and had the reception at the same venue so it may be different timings to yours but they got married at 3pm. The photographer arrived at 1pm to do getting ready photos and photos of the men etc and stayed throughout the ceremony, reception, speeches and to the first dance so she left about 9pm.

We're getting ready upstairs in the venue...the two photographers are arriving at 1pm - an hour before the wedding - to take some getting ready pics and snap the rings, flowers etc then obviously there's no travelling to the venue as we're there anyway (but will be in separate rooms and not allowed to see each other!)

My poor tog started at 8 with my prep photos, that was for a 1pm ceremony. He was there until around 9 that evening.

We are getting ready at the same venue as ceremony (2pm) and he will be arriving about 11.30/12 to take some prep shots

Our togs were very prescriptive (too much so)... they would only work for 8 hours and if our first dance was 7.30pm then the earliest they would be there would be 11am and this was pushing it!! Hair had already mostly been done when they arrived and makeup had started... they got enough of the shots I wanted but I felt like I was working to a strict timetable with no flexibility...I wasn't expecting them to be there all day and night but I have heard so many lovely stories of togs getting really involved in your day and ours just weren't like this... the vog on the other hand was amazing!

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant, I guess part of me wishes that I had pushed for more budget!!

Anywhoo... back to the subject in hand... you should have them there from when you feel comfortable, if you don't want to be photographed in your pj's and would rather have your make-up done already then that is up to you!! Depends on whether you are looking for real time getting ready photographs or more of a "this is me before I left the house" moment.

Blah.. just can't get the words out today!

Hi i have not sorted with our tog yet but he is very flexible and no set hours, he will be there from early morning til late at night, i saw he spent 16 hours at a wedding the other week.

i think it will be thinking what you want him to capture, i am getting ready at my venue so no travel time i want him to get detail shots of the reception room etc and of me and BM and also then the men!

speak to your TOG see what they usually do and tailor it to your needs!

    xx

Depends if you want them for the getting ready shots or meeting you at the church. We're doing something probably bizarre for most people.Getting married in Sweden and walking down aisle together so TOG is arriving to take the coupley photos of us 1 1/2 hours before the service, as is this normal practice for him.

Then after the church there'll be a few group shots but mostly of us wandering down to the lake for drinks and music. He's staying for meal too-thank god Sweden doesn't have the 'wedding industry' we have so TOG's prices are cheaper!

    Pretty much the same here...

I typically work from the Bridal preparations, for around an hour or so, through to the First Dance.

    Best regards,

    Dean
