quickest way to learn some french

janeyh, 31 July, 2008 at 10:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

I am off to france in a couple of weeks and thought i would be ok with my bits of french from school etc

in my mind i was practically fluent - but when it came to trying to book hotels etc it has become apparent that i am fluent in something - but it isnt french ?

so - need a quick way to brush up - classes are out of the equation and cant find a tutor - i think some stuff should come back to me - but at the moment it is fairly desperate!

I have an old Letts O Level Revision aid I dip into when I want to refresh my memory. Just flicking through it is enough to jog my memory usually. I've no idea what the new one is like these days - mine is over 20 years old and very well-thumbed. ?

Or have you tried one of the online courses on the BBC website? Ma France seems quite good.

My friend thought that this was worthwhile (assuming French speaking computers aren't a possibility:

Just type "French podcast" into the search field of the iTunes store. It will come up with a load of stuff, including free French lessons.
