Quit job - What does this mean for the wedding? Help!

FutureMrsWilson, 15 May, 2011 at 11:39 Posted on Planning 0 8

Don't want to go into details on here, but unfortunately just couldn't hack it anymore.

Going to be back out there tomorrow with my CV/covering letters to look for something more suitable, but worried about what will happen if I can't find one? Will I have to cancel the wedding for the second time??

Chances are that we'll be able to afford the wedding without trouble, but it will mean no honeymoon. That's not really important in the grand scheme of things anyway, right? Everyone keeps saying 'I bet you can't wait for the wedding', when really I just can't wait to be Mrs Wilson. Having a great marriage is much more important to me than having a great wedding. If you know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean! Is it possible that you could delay the honeymoon - there is no rule saying that you have to have your honeymoon immediately after your wedding. You have your priorities right by the sounds of things - one day in a lifetime will be fantastic, but its what happens after that day that matters.

Best of luck in finding a job x

There is nothing worse than being in a job you hate. I am sure it will all pan out for you in the end.

    Good luck with it all.

My advice would be to take any job, even if it's not ideal (but not one that makes you miserable), until you can find the one you want. For instance, I would waitress while looking for anotherr office job as you can make a really good wage through the tips, and generally work in the evening therefore are available during the day for interviews and stuff.

    Best of luck!

I am forgoing a foreign honeymoon as we have decided to put the money in the house deposit fund in the hope that we can afford one next year, but are taking a week away in the family caravan so we get to relax after the wedding.

Find a job you like and can live with long term - best of luck with your job hunting!

As you say it is more about being married then the wedding day!

I know what you mean. In the end of the day, it's about you and the man you love - everything else is fixings. Sure, it's nice to have a nice party, but that's not what a wedding is -really- about.

We will probs also have a delayed honeymoon, was even entertaining having the honeymoon on our 1 year anniversary.

First of all, sorry to hear things were so tough at work, and well done for being brave enough to leave!!

I think this might be a really great chance for you and your OH to sit down and work out which parts of the wedding are the most important and just stick to those. If people know you've just left your job they'll understand if you make things a bit simpler etc and maybe you could ask for honeymoon vouchers or something for gifts.

The most important part is that you get married - could you run away and do it somewhere and then host a party when you come home, or would that cause some kind of war?

Good luck with finding another job, will have my fingers crossed for you.

I definitley agree that a great marriage is much more than a great wedding but also an expensive wedding doesnt always mean a great wedding. Hopefully you will still be able to afford the wedding and you could always cut out some of the nice to haves (if you were having any!!)
