Radio 1 irritation

barongreenback, 4 March, 2009 at 08:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 149

No, not Vernon Kay ?

I really, really detest those 4 little notes they stick onto every song in the morning. Who do I complain to? ?

I like Moyles, just not the music so much. My next company car choice will be based purely on whether DAB comes as standard - I would listen to 6 Music all day if I could.

I can't remember the last time I listened to Radio1.

Radio4 all the way in this house (with the occasional foray into Radio 2 and Radio 7...)

It's Bowmn that drives me round the twist, I was quite happy when she was on maternity leave!

I think most of the breakfast team hate the 4 notes on the beginning of songs too ?

Wiley makes my shit itch, I much preferred Sara Cox in that slot because it suited her, I turn off after Moyles now. Edith Bowman is rubbish too, her and Wiley should be put out to pasture on 1 Extra.

Don't mind Moyles and Coxy but hate Mills, Nahal (sp?) and Bowman.

Am getting a bit irritated about being asked for cash on the Brekkie show every 5 minutes. I'm a big supporter of Comic Relief but even this is getting on my wick.

I totally agree BGB - apparently they're called "1-tros", so they have an equally irritating name.

Radio 1? what's that? Is it that station for alleged young people? apparently their demographic is way older than their target.

anyway, I've not listened to R1 (apart from being forced to by builders) since they dumped Mark and Lard in the afternoon.

I love 6Music. Adam and Joe on a Saturday - fab. The rest of the day I'm either on R4 or if I'm working and want music, I'm a self confessed R2 person.

doing popmaster at the mo ?

I'd love to hear Adam and Joe on the radio every day. I have to content myself with the weekly podcast (POD MAX!) when I'm running.

If I want music in the day I tend to use last.fm instead of an actual radio.

If you're at a computer, Spotify is bloody BRILLIANT for music. I downloaded it at the weekend and I am a complete evangelist about it. Every song you could want to listen to (OK, there are some gaps, but it's been 95%+ for me) for free, 100% legal, fast and reliable, streamed to your computer.

I can't get over how great it is.

I think Moyles likes to talk about himself A LOT. I like Vernon and I quite like Nehal. Can't bear Grimmy, if ever a name described a person ?

I hate Radio 1 and I think anyone who listens to it are sad 30 somethings who are desperate to be 18 again.

Radio 2 all the way (apart from Wogan)

I love Jezza Vine and Steve Wright.........Ask Elvis is hilarious !

I hate new music so thats probably why I dont like Radio 1

Not wound up particularly, just a bit baffled by your logic. Hating new music (and expressing it in those terms) is rather sad though. Not sure of the relevance of Chris Moyle's weight or hairyness either.

Mizz Pink - you clearly didn't think before you posted did you?

For all its faults, Radio1 is an amazing station for those who like it, and is at the forefront of presenting new music, we are very lucky to have the BBC and stations like this. yes there are annoying DJ's but for the most part the music played is good, But I am 27, certainly not desperate to be 18 again. If you dont like it don't listen, but please, spare us the generalisation.

Its not relevent no, but people can type what responses they like on this forum, whats the problem with me doing so? I was expressing a personal opinion. I dont mind Moyles on TV programmes, sometimes he is quite funny its just too much waffle for 7.45 am.

There are ways of expressing an opinion though and generalising like that is very rude. Your tone of posting has generally been like that on this board. Not sure if you've misunderstood the 'tone' of OT but you do come across as a bit aggressive. Calm down, think before you post and learn to express your opinions without insulting people.

You posted on a thread where its clear there are people who DO like Radio1 (BGB and HH for starters) so calling them "sad" and desperate to be 18 again, is indeed, very rude - there's ways to express opinions MP, everyone does on Hitched, but not via insulting others.

Of course you're entitled to it, just as I'm entitled to tell you that it's stupidly rude to make an insulting sweeping generalisation about people that listen to Moyles. It makes you look like you can't distinguish between disliking a presenter and calling all people who listen to him sad. Which seems a bit, well, thick.
