Radio 1 irritation

No, not Vernon Kay ? I really, really detest those 4 little notes they stick onto every song in the morning. Who do I complain to? ?

Mizz Pink (shouldn't that be Miss P!nk?), I don't know why I'm bothering, but if I went on BT and was as rude as you (all people who own Bugaboos are wannabe middle class who care more about style than their baby's comfort - how's that for insulting and untrue?) I'd expect much the same response. YOU are the one being unnecessarily rude.

    Oh dear,

What about when people on here, you included, were calling me all sorts on the 'how boys wee' thread? All the kn*b cheese related insults, all directed at me.

Did I have a strop? No, I laughed along with everyone else.

1 rule for one 1 for another

You don't seem to get is that this is a community that mirrors real life - if there's a barrage of insults going on back and forth and no one is taking offence, that means they're jokes between people who have a relationship on this forum. Just like if you and your H were in a pub and taking the mick out of each other and a random bloke came up and called you a sad biatch, you and your H wouldn't be laughing at him, even if your H had said the same 2 mins earlier.

It doens't mean that there's a free for all on insults - and just because something is your opinion does not mean your beliefs or comments do not have the ability to offend or insult.

And finally, bollox about people on BT not coming onto OT - there's at least half a dozen BTers on this thread alone. Leave it out, darrrrrrrrrling.

But you weren't joking about people that listen to Radio 1.........the knob cheese jokes you positively encouraged, and people were joking. There's a big difference you know. Anyway, if you didn't like them you should have said so, but it struck me you were enjoying the attention.

despite the wish to do so, i was holding off making a reply to this thread, but since you've mentioned me, i feel it only right that i post. I did address certain djs as wankers, yes, and i stand by that. However, I did not insult tens of thousands of people (a number on here) by making a ridiculously sweeping statement and then rather fuckwittedly trying to suggest that it was "just my opinion" and therefore somehow "ok"

I would thank you not to bring me into your knobjockery thank you very much.

Following on from what Mrs B mentioned earlier in the thread, it would be interesting to find out the actual demographic of radio 1 breakfast show listeners. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it differs from Radio 1’s proposed target audience.

I enjoy the breakfast show because the ‘team’ are of a similar age to me, watch the same TV shows as me and have similar interests, so I can relate and laugh along with the topics of discussion.

I wouldn’t imagine the show would appeal to the majority of teenagers, particularly if others shows are more appropriately targeted to a typical teenagers and their interests.

Anyone else think the BBC Radio Execs are waiting on Terry throwing in the towel to move the Chris Moyles show to Radio 2? Or maybe that is wishful thinking on my part, the Chris Moyles show without having to listen to Basshunter, would, for me, be heaven ?

(Sorry if this thread has gone way off the OT - i've been trying to post since lunchtime but work keeps getting in the way!)

I quite agree - the Chris Moyles show without Pink/P!nk would also be a bonus

I don't think I've deliberately listened to Radio 1 since I was at school, I think that was the days of Simons Mayo & Bates, Gary Davis, Bruno Brookes doing the charts etc ? oh and Dave Lee Travis on a Sunday morning.

I went through a phase of listening to Radio Clyde until I realised that George Bowie was a complete t0sspot and Suzie Maguire makes me want to scrub my eardrums with a brillo pad.

For the last goodness knows how many years it's been Radio 2 for me, I quite like most of the daytime programmes, Steve Wright aka Mr Potato Head annoys me and while I quite like Stuart Maconie I cannot bear Mark Radcliffe. It gets a bit codgerish at the weekend although I have recently professed a bit of a liking for Alan Titchmarsh and the priest who does the Sunday service ?

I listen to Absolute Radio (formerly known as Virgin) and Christian O'Connell in the mornings. Great music, pretty much the same as Radio 1, and a very funny DJ!

Didn't Gary Davies do 'The Sloppy Bit' which was a love song or something?

Simon Bates used to do that bit with the theme tune to Zefferli's Romeo and Juliet.....used to make me want to heave even as a child.

I miss the Radio One Roadshows - my first was on Southsea's Castle Field with Bruno Brookes in a pink tracksuit and Status Quo as guests. Smiley Miley was pants tho.......

    Ignoring Mizzpink

I love Chris Moyles, love him, I would actually like to have his babies. (I think I have shared many times my regular made up myself dream before I go to sleep, about him)

I am trying very hard to like radio four at the moment, but I do fear i am not clever enough. However, woman's hour is quite comforting. I am going to stick with it for in hope one day I can talk about grown up stuff.

Oh I love The Killers. Pink makes my bum sting (not to be confused with stink), I do like some of her older stuff, but these days she is too try hard.

Oh and I would HATE to be 18 again, I use to love Heather Shimmer and I once stopped being friends with a boy and slapped him after he made try on a ring of his, I did and then he told me to sniff it, as it had been up 'Laura' the night before (Sorry BGB fingering reminded me of ths awful incident)

Right, think that's all I have to add for now.
