No, not Vernon Kay ? I really, really detest those 4 little notes they stick onto every song in the morning. Who do I complain to? ?

    I don't remember it, even though I am sure I heard it. I really hated DLT and Gary Davies. Not enough to switch from the station, obviously

    Heather Shimmer? A lipstick, I presume? ..... Or was she that weird girl with glasses in my primary school? My memory is shocking!

    I haven't listened to Radio 1 for many a year, and when my MP3 player accidentally tries playing it to me, I remember why I stopped tuning in to it. Fine if you like that kind of thing, but it' just does not fo it for me. I prefer to listen to Radio 4, Radio 2 and sometimes, even, Radio Gloucestershire.

    What is all this talk of heather shimmer? Twilight Teaser was the lipstick to be seen in. Turn your head one way, pink lipstick. Turn your head the other - blue heart attack lips. Can't beat the stuff.

    Didn't Steve Wright used to do something about Llama Man? Llama man, llama man, does everything a llama can.

    Mike Reid ?

    I don't remember that about GD. I do remember the goddawful "Radio 1 roadshows" that used to be on during the summer and his "Woah Gary Davis, Woah Gary Davis, Woah Gary Davis on your radio" jingle that he had though ?

    What about DLT's really sh1te pub quiz game on the Sunday mornings too ?

    Mrs M I don't really know much about Wee Fat Bob other than the name, I wasn't a big Scot FM listener. One of my colleagues at work though was a victim of one of the wind ups on Robin Galloway's breakfast show ? was that Scot FM too? I do remember Scottie McClue though. He was an absolute prize wanker. He seems to disappear for ages and then pop up on another station every so often. I think about him quite often (not as weird as it sounds, I drive past a McClue road in Renfrew on the way home from most places and it makes me think of him ?)

    Our Tune ? do you think any of it was ever true or if there was a researcher paid to sit and make it all up? It was like an audio version of Take a Break ?

    I used to love Alan 'Fluff' Freeman and his 'pop pickers' on Sundays. Was great when the chosen year was late 80s, cue my Dad mumping about 'that Pete Waterman should be jailed for what he's done to music' and the like ?

    Waaah this thread is ace, hitched gold. I have snorted out loud several times ?

    I am of the same era as you others who mentioned the Gary Davis atrocities etc... how ruddy funny. the sloppy bit. it had a big squelchy kiss in it.

    I am so sad, I remember that DLT's snooker kwiz was called Give us a break (there was a fab pub quiz machine in local pubs with it on) and the darts was Treble top. his show consisted of these two and him playing interminably Yello 'The Race' or Wax "building a bridge to your heart' Shyte ?

    I loved our tune very much, it was great, totally tacky. I remember one bloke's story was that he had a crush on someone at work, she shagged him at a christmas party and then blanked him and never spoke to him again. 10 years later he wanted Simes to play "heal the pain' by george michael and explained how he'd occasionally sit outside her house in his car watching her and her now family. he then thanked her for giving him the best night of his life

    for most people this would constitute stalking and a ruddy great injunction, for Simes it gave him a chance to nip to the loo while Romeo and Juliet theme was playing in the background ?

    Awww, we have a totally oblivious new ficky to play with.

    I liked Simon Mayo's confessions. Used to listen to that when i was a Nanny <shudders at memory of nannying>

    I also used to listen to quack quack oops when driving to collect my Grampy for the weekend after i just passed my test, hundreds of years ago, ahhh, the memories.

    I do miss Mark and Lard though, biggedy biggedy bong so it is.

    I've not listened to Radio 1 since my days as a sixth former long ago (it was always on the radio on in the common room). If i'm honest I wasn't keen on it then and i've not had any reason to change my opinion.

    <provincial dullard alert>

    I tend to listen to our local commercial radio station, mainly cos they have a good mix of music, the presenters aren't too annoying and I get a dose of local news, weather, travel, traffic etc at the same time. A lot of stuff (apart from the national news) that is on the national stations just isn't particularly useful for me (travel, weather etc) stuck on my rock in the channel.

    <provincial dullard alert>

    That said the sports coverage on Five Live is excellent and if we do happen to listen to any naitonal stations this is probably the one we catch most of.

    The only frequent Radio 1 date I have is the Golden Hour although I do love a bit of Chappers and Dave. I usually flick stations until I find a song I like.

    Our Tune ?. We used to listen to it in the sixth form common room, you could hear a pin drop in there at 11am. ?

    ? waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

    It was always 20 minutes of ramble about how someone had got drunk and shagged someone else, upsetting their "lady" followed by some drivel like this

    I think I last listened to Radio 1 when Simon Mayo did the morning show and played "Joe le Taxi" by Johnny Depp's missus a lot ?
