I'm assuming people will bring their own. I know some people that provide it themselves but I think that's mainly to make sure that they get a good confetti shot i.e. with the colours they want

Supply your own, that way you can inform the photographer and get the shots you want, I wouldn't rely on guests bringing any ?

We're supplying just enough for it to look nice in pictures, for bits of paper it seems extortionate!

We are providing confetti. But our venue is very strict on the type of confetti that we can use. I don't want to risk someone bringing the wrong type and us being charged a damage deposit x

Yes this is sometimes the case and also the reason that you may want to get some in yourself because more and more people are coming across weddings that the bride and groom are supplying the confetti for and so some guests may assume that you are too and not bring any, and the reason for it is as Katiel2b said, some venues will only allow bio degradable - petals and you risk loosing some deposit if any other is used.

If your venue has no issues then you could buy some and there is no need to go for the expensive petals. Its cheep enough to buy as paper so it wont hurt getting some even if others have brought extra too.

Might just go to the Card Factory and buy a couple of trays of their cones!

We're not providing confetti - it never really cross my mind tbh!

We have a couple of rules over confetti use, so have told people not to bother - although our photographers will have a confetti canon for a group photo.

If you have been told some rules then watch out for the cannon because some contain the plastic silvery confetti which some venues hate with a vengeance because it stays around forever.

I have been to a few weddings recently and only a few people bought confetti with them. We are supplying confetti at ours because I really want a confetti shot. I'm currently looking for confetti and you are right it is expensive!
