Random ponderings

Nicalf08, 9 May, 2012 at 15:30 Posted on Planning 0 18

Today looking at my gorgeous but snotty nosed son I am really hoping he doesn't have a cold on our wedding day else there will be a hundred shots of me chasing him around to wipe his nose and him squirming away from me! Anyone else with really pointless thoughts about The Big Day? ?

Yes. I'm a complete control freak and have visions of me running round after EVERYONE making sure everything is in place, and everything is being done at exactly the right time. #needstorelax.

I've wondered about the going for a wee too!! I've not got a huge dress but it has crossed my mind that some places have really small toilet cubicles that you have to squeeze in sideways at the best of times! Glad it's not just me....

I've also been thinking about weeing... My skirt is huge and i've been wondering if it will be easier to go up to the bridal suite and use the loo in the bathroom than try to squeeze into a cubicle.

I've also been pondering how i'm going to kneel at the altar and then manage to stand back up again without falling over.

I'm also wondering if a big bib might be necessary to stop me getting any marks on my dress whilst i eat.

I've got to have an operation in June on my foot (wedding Oct) and I have visions of me wearing slippers down the aisle because of the swelling, tripping over the front and ripping it. Yeah, i know! Like the slippers aren't the worst bit!!

We've cut Soup from our Breakfast for this EXACT reason! That and Canapes, Soup, Starter, Main, Dessert and Cake seemed like an awful lot of food!

I think D is definitely going to have to help me up. I've never worn such a big skirt before. Its my ultimate nightmare, that once i get down kneeling at the altar i'll never get back up! Oh and that i get ink all over my dress signing the register!

Another one, we chose a car that i specifically could step up into and down out of but what if my skirt really gets in my way then as well? and if i bang my head on the car then my hair is just going to go wrong.

I do think about tripping or falling in my heels (as well as the problem of having a wee). I'm so useless at walking in anything higher than kitten heels. I've been walking round the house in them to practice & my OH said I look like a flamingo! Don't get how as my legs are certainly not comparable to a flamingo's unless it was a pear shaped one!! Think he meant I looked awkward & stiff. I'm not generally clumsy but can see me stumbling & twisting my ankle or something!!

I dread to think how OH thinks he is going to get our wayward toddler to stand still at the front with him as best man and not eat my wedding ring!

Not sure how my daughter is going to react to the responsibility of walking slowly down the aisle in front of me (although she's good at walking slowly when I don't want her to..).

I'm worried about my socially inept relatives embarrassing me in front of all my friends and in-laws.

I hope the buffet is to die for as both our parents think it's extortionate and we don't have a chance to try it out first.

I hope our guest bus gets used properly and we don't loose people.

I hope OH's friend doesn't camp in our garden on our wedding night as he's suggested he will.

I hope our noisy neighbours don't have a raucous bbq when our families come home for hopefully quite serene photos and champagne.

I hope OH enjoys himself as he keeps promising he won't (just wants to be married).. Smiley sad

    eeek!!

Oh my goodness, I worry about ridiculous things!

Nerves - I don't worry about the walk down the aisle but I worry about shaking when I get to my husband-to-be and whether those nerves will mean nervous sweats on the hands or something! Then when I think about clammy hands I worry that maybe my head will get hot (I have a LOT of hair - my head gets hot really easily, as ridiculous as that sounds) and sweat will start pouring down my neck when I'm saying the vows! Luckily Copenhagen tends to be cooler than London and April certainly won't mean tropical climes ..

Guests not enjoying themselves - I do sometimes wonder whether people will get on or whether there'll be people that will find it boring. On the day I know it'll be fine and people will mingle but I have these ridiculous visions of music playing and everyone sitting down bored!

I'm also a bit of an emotional person so when the speeches are being done, particularly the one by my dad, I'm praying that I can hold it together so I don't spend the first half an hour in the toilets drying tears and readjusting my make up.

    Great post. Here's mine;

Me not being able to relax and thus not being able to enjoy the day

    Falling/stumbling in my dress

OH thinking I look a state!

Crying - this is a big worry of mine

    Spilling food on my dress

My children misbehaving or being needy

Having to breastfeed the baby constantly/ all evening!

    Guests not enjoying the ceilidh

Guests now showing up (especially the day bit as we are paying so much money and have justified so many people to get to the list we've got today

    Plus a million other things!
