OOOOO!! This ones easy Smiley smile

I have a problem, along with my mum and sisters where we all tend to perspire quite a lot, especially in the summer months and when "due on". My dr prescribed me Driclor. You use it once a night for a few weeks, then every other day for a few weeks gradually reducing the amount you use it to once a week, then maybe once a fortnight something like that. It is available over the counter from most chemists and is about £5 ish. but my god does it work!!!! it is amazing and bone dry no matter what the weather. Wouldnt go without it Smiley smile

It does tend to itch a little and maybe sting a small amount the first few times you use it but apart from that we havent had any side effects. hope this helps

If you don't have a specific issue, and are just looking for a decent one - I vote Dove Original.

    Mrs-R2b:

I'd heard this was good and tried it but after using for 3 or 4 nights I itched like hell and my under arms were burning and inflamed! I pressume this is extreme? Would you say this was 'normal'? Should I try again and persevere, or give up because I've had a reaction to it?!

Do you actually sweat a lot? Because only then would I recommend using a medicated anti-perspirant.

It's not the sweat that makes you pong, it's tha bacteria living on your skin. So the best way to keep fresh is to make sure your armpits are really clean to begin with (i.e. an anti-bacterial soap) then dry them really well too. When dry put on your deoderant and it should keep you fresh for most of the day.

Dove is my fave too, but I am willing to try any that also smell lovely if anyone has any recommendations.

Has anyone ever tried Biosen (or spelt similar)?

Im really worried about this too!! The problem I've got is that I tend to sweat when I'm nervous, no matter what temperature!! Literally nothing stops it & it can be as bad as beads of sweat running down my arms (sorry to be so gross!) I'm going to ask my doctor about it the next time I see her!

I get fairly sweaty in hot weather but i never smell horrible and i wear Sure deoderant. I do however get wet patched if (Sorry TMI?) i get too hot so i am thinking of buying the Driclor but may sound like a silly question are you able to wear deodorant in the day if you use this? As i would want my under arms to smell nice even if they don't sweat through using this.

I agree with pandorasbox. The nivea rool on ones are great. Some of them smell really nice too which is always a bonus!

And boots seem to always have them on the two-for-one offer ?

You need to get a antiperspirant rather then a deodorant as antiperspirant stops you sweating most are also have a fragrance too so acts as a deodorant as well. A deodorant will just make you smell nice but not stop you sweating so will wear off quicker all then major brands do both types.

You can also get fragrance free antiperspirants (I know boots do one in their own brand) that way it wont clash with your perfume on your big day.

I could be freezing cold and still sweet when nervous so I went to the doctor who prescribed driclor like the others girls have recommended!! It's brilliant and now I could use it once A month but still use my normal deodorant daily. It does tend to burn when first used so you girls who have said is it better to persevere then yes definitely do! It says on the leaflet f to use straight after a shower or after showering and to put it on before going to bed and wash it off thoroughly the next day. It basically blocks the sweat pore without damaging anything but really worth it xx

Hey ladies, yes driclor DOES irritate the skin, especially because it has a chemical in it that DOES close up sweat glands. The deoderant takes about a month or so to get used to it. My advice would be to have it right next to the bed and put it on in bed then go straight to sleep. Believe me the pain at the beginning is well worth it.

There are a lot of review sites on the product. But Highly recommend

I perspire a lot myself and not only in the summer. Really embarrassing. Tried Dricolor and it is amazing but I had the same reaction of burning and inflammation. It kept me awake at night. Spoke to my doctor and since it looks like a medical condition with me she referred me to the hospital for Botox injections (into the armpits). And I have not looked back since...The injections are painful but it is short-term pain for long-term gain. And you can have it done privately as well (if you have not got a medical condition or your doctor would not refer you...)

I agree with this. It was horrible for the first 2 nights and i thought i'd never get use to it but i now only use it once a week. I know its so difficult not to but try not to scratch. Once the skin has been broken then it can become really painful when applying the following night. Also, when i use it now i let it dry properly - literally sat on the sofa with my arms up - and i don't have any itching other than a little bit when i wash the next morning.

    It's a god send and i wouldn't be without

I have one important piece of advice in that if you are trying something new, wear it a few times before your big day.

I once went for a job interview and it was a very hot industrial enviroment. They called me back for a second interview and wanting to make a good impression I brought 'Sure' and put plenty of it on. Never used it before, and on the second interview the sweat was practially dripping off me. I was so embarrased. I felt really uncomfortable, didn't make a good impresssion and didn't get the job.

Anyway cut a long story short I used it a few times after that and discovered that I clearly have some kind of an allergic reaction to Sure and it makes me sweat literally 10 times as much.

Very odd, and you sure (no pun intended) don't want to be like that on your big day.

I sweat alot!! If you're the same then I recommend Driclor too. At first I found it burned like mad and couldn't use it but I gave it another chance and reading the instructions again it said 'apply underarms where the hair grows' and this has made all the difference. Don't roll it all over - it is alot more bearable.

I have just ordered something called 'Sweat block' an 8 week supply of wipes that stops sweating. Not used it before but going to give it a try in the run up to the wedding. That was £15 so I'm hoping it will be industrial strength stuff!!

If it's just a good regular deodorant you're after Mitchum is great and there is an unperfumed one so it won't interfere with your perfume.

I swear by Mitchum it says on the bottle that it's so good you can even miss a day and it's true (not that I do that but in my younger days I was known to regularly pull all nighters lol). I used it from when I was 12 til I randomly became allergic and I haven't found one as good since
