Rant!!

kelly_070209, 8 October, 2008 at 19:42 Posted on Planning 0 9

Sorry need a rant & some advice.

We booked an appointment for a photographer to come round & see us to show us his work.....he never turned up!

We found a mobile number for one of the guys so we rung them, no answer, eventually he rung back, and told us he would get in contact with him find out where he is, he rung back and told us that the guy who was meant to turn up was in a car accident & has rebooked for Monday. Thing is im dubious (untrusting nature) he reckons he didnt ring us because he didnt have the number, yet we gave him the number in case he got lost or anything....would u trust them?

Yes I would, photographers earn too much money from weddings not to turn up for an appointment.

Our singer and DJ had a car accident on the morning of our wedding, these things happen.

I would give him the benefit of doubt , as hay said these things do happen.

    Hi

Unfortunately the ranks of wedding photographers are in the main made up of people who come from a hobby background they do it part time and can be far from professional.

Unless he was really smashed up if he were a professional he would have bust a gut to contact you!

If he is this slap dash over a business appointment what will he be like on your big day?

Do you know him or been recommended to him by a friend ?

    Check out these professionals

    All the best

? @ Jonty. Nothing like a problem to promote a business, eh.

How do you know that 'the ranks of wedding photograhers are made up of people who come from a hobby background'? And, is this really a problem? Surely most of the the top photographers became interested in their art from a interest that grew into a hobby.

In that situation, I'd give them another chance, but if I had even the smallest doubt about them, or if they were late or didn't show again, I wouldn't consider using them for my wedding. Give them a second chance but no more than that - it's not worth taking the risk!

Defintely not worth a rant in my opinion. Unfortunate - yes, annoying - yes, but in the grand scheme of things not really a big deal.

See what his work is like and how you feel about him on Monday.

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt....These things do happen, and although I think its not professional to have not let you know, things like that do go out of your mind when you've had a crash!

Johnty, don't think you're advertising was really asked for? And comments were way off the mark around the "hobby background!!" Surely that could be said about all wedding suppliers from Jewellery to Invitations?

I would let him come round again, because he could be the best photographer in the world! But I would expect an apology. And if you think you could get the same standard/package from someone else - then I'd go there instead. But I would give him the chance to show you his work.

    xx

Jonty - this is only your second post and you have advertised in both, please read the advertising rules

OP - i would give them the benefit of the doubt tbh if they dont turn up again, then i would be a bit suspicious
