Argh we've been to quite a few weddings & we can never remember the grooms father having had a suit hired with cravat etc. In laws are now "requesting" he has one!!! Is your grooms father having one??

Ok, thanks folks, interesting, we both thought he didnt have one & I am not really sure why as the grooms dad doesnt really do anything?? give me away or do a speech?! Oh well it has to be done so it'll be done but they have already put the stop to our first choice honeymoon destination so I shall be saying no to any more requests!! Argh!

That seems incredibly harsh! Are they paying for it? Otherwise I'd be telling them to chuff off!! ?

Most definitely, yes! He is part of the Wedding Party, and of the Groomsmen, so yes, I expect my FIL2B to go with the OH, BM and Usher for their measurements and suit hire booking for their Morning Suits. Can't wait to see him in his top hat and gloves!

I'm very much in the minority but my FIL2B nor SFIL2B will be wearing the same suits as the groomsmen! If either of them asked to... and offered to pay for them! Then i'd be more than happy for them to have the same.

I don't think it is unusual for the FOG to have the same as the FOB. Nearly all wedding groups that I cater for, both dads are included (sometimes more than 2, depending on the family situation).

It is personal preference as most others have said but I don't think it is an unreasonable request.
