£/$ rate. Will it get lower?

loopyloo, 6 September, 2008 at 22:13 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

Hey

Im due to go to the US in December. I see the pound is at a 2 year low against the dollar.

Is it predicted to get lower? Or even out?

I dont know whether to convert some dollars now, or hedge my bets and wait til nearer the time.

HRML, what do you think?

    Only just seen this post.

I got my dollars back in June time for when i go to the USA next month. We worked out that we saved ourselves £200 getting them when the exchange rate was much better.

I'd say get some now at the rate that they are in case the drop even lower.

It depends on what Bank of England do against what they do in the US. If the US does something to help their economy, then the rate will get worse for us, otherwise it will probably even out.

It depends on whether you can afford to loose out if it gets lower.
