Readings?

katiejm1989, 8 July, 2012 at 16:00 Posted on Planning 0 1

Myself and my Husband to be have an amazing friend who i unfortunatly met after deciding my bridesmaids, we have become extremely close would it be unusual to ask her to do a reading at the wedding?

If so would it be like a speech, or would it be a poem? song lyrics?

Not unusual at all I don't think, we're having 2 readings, one by my brother and one by a friend.

Our friend is reading some lyrics from a song we both love and my brother hasn't decided yet, I've let them choose what they want to read providing it doesn't have any religious content because it's a civil ceremony and that isn't allowed.

A reading is a great way to include someone special in your wedding ceremony, and they can read out whatever you'd like them to, whether it's song lyrics, a passage from your favourite book or a poem. Just check if it's a civil ceremony that there's no religious content.

We have a section devoted to poems and readings - have a browse to see if anything stands out for you -
