Readings

Cupcake26, 12 April, 2015 at 12:31 Posted on Planning 0 6

Who have you asked to do yours? And how many are you having? We can have up to two and I'm struggling to think if I want them (to make the ceremony a bit longer) and also who I would ask as a lot of people would be too scared!

We asked OH's sister's wife. We wanted her to be part of the wedding but not a BM as then we would have two BMs who are a couple and we thought it might be weird (OH's sister was one of our BMs). She did a fantastic job and moved many people to tears during the ceremony.

We're having two readings done my my brother and my OH's sister. I put the feelers out a while ago and checked with them both and they were both keen to do it. If they were too nervous to do it I had a couple of back-ups I would have asked.

We had a good friend of mine do one from the Bible. She's a brilliant performer and used to presenting so we knew she wouldn't mind. My husband's sister's fiance did the other one which was Mark Twain. He is part of a toast

    Posted too early!

Meant to say - he's part of a toastmaster club.

We didn't want to stress anyone out who wouldn't be happy doing it.

We're having two, an old friend of mine is doing one, n OH best mate the other one, they're both pretty confident public speakers so hopefully they'll do a lovely job. I was torn between two of my friends n initially asked another one as she'd been very involved in helping my bridesmaids plan hen do games but she didn't feel like she could do it, I told her there was no pressure, it worked out well really cus she knew I was thinking of her n wanted her to be involved in some way, but because she didn't want to it meant I could ask my other friend who I also wanted to involve, win win really Smiley smile

We had my brother's wife (neither of my brothers like public speaking and wanted to have siblings acknowledged in some way) and also my FIL. We had two readings. One before the vows which was an excerpt from Les Miserables on defining love and a poem by W.B Yeats that was read after the vows.

My best friend got married last year, and she just had the one reading - and equally I can't say that two or one readings was better, it just depends on who you want to involve on your wedding day and what readings mean the most to you.
